Sorry for my ignorance i was wondering why people spend alot of money on servos. obviously i dont have any are i would be able to answer this one myself. What i know is some are stronger less prone to stripping out, faster switching . What i dont know is if a good servo has more range as far as how much it can move over a cheap servo. Thanks for looking and thanks for any light you can shed on the subject.

I think a lot of it is durablility, sensitivity, and stength.

If you bash your buggy rig than 2 days a week stock servo's just don't hold up well. They also have the strength to move your tires sitting still or under power, you don't have to be moving to turn the tires.

Sensitivity os big when you are trying to fight your way to first place, and you have to manuever in between your competitiors. If you twitch the whel or your transmittier your tires are going to twitch too, unlike most stock servos that seem to slam to one side or the other, or sit an jerk when asked to move minute distances. It really does make a difference when your trying to get setup for a jump and the tie before you get there is limited..

That being said, I use an overvoltage RX pack that makes my stock servos have more power, not being a racer i'll just suffer until they strip out or burn out. I've run high end servos and they are worth it I just have three kids and three nitros that have to run at any given time (budget)

The biggest reason I believe they are spent on is because people want more control. MT owners tend to get ehse high powered servo's to help turn those monstrous tires left and right. Same would be for 1/8 th scale buggies. Some are bought for durability, IE: Metal gears . I know that I have stripped a servo for that reason.

SOme people also spend on good Throttle servos as the transit time they are rated at is a lot faster. No need to get a heavy duty servo for throttle.IMO. Some peolpe also spend for the digital servos to enable the use of the FAST frame rate option on upgraded Transimitters like the M8 or the XS3.

Range has nothing to do with servo's. You are looking at RX quality and RX battery life there. If you decid to get better servos you need to utilize the full potential by buying a 6V Rechargeable pack.

anymore questions?

I think that was good enough for me. Thanks for the input. Maybe thats why i think mine doesn't have the turning range because it is sitting still. I havent run it yet to see the diffrence. Thanks again

I have old Futaba S9450's in all my electric and nitro trucks, at 6.0 volts, 111 oz/in, .09 transit, all metal gears, coreless motor, ball bearings top and bottom.

They are over 10 years old and still work as well as the day I bought them.

That's why. :D
