I got the OS VZB on my Prospec now. Currently running a JP-1 pipe, and was thinking of changing it. The track I run on is a short track. Lots of turns, and jumps. The straight stretch is approx. 125 feet, but the entrance, and exit turns are pretty tight. It doesn't seem to reach that top speed fast enough, yet with the low end of the VZB, and probably the pipe as well, it has plenty of off the line grunt. Do you think it would be worth changing the pipe? I was thinking of an 086 pipe, but I'm open to suggestions.

The JP-1 is a low-end pipe and the 086 is a high-end pipe. Going from the JP-1 to the 086 might not get you up to speed any quicker. You might want to try different clutch setups first or maybe another set of tires if you're having traction issues. What clutch shoes & springs are you running currently? If you're running 1.0 springs, you might try a 0.9. Maybe shoes that come in sooner...

Gimp gives some good advice.
I'm running the OS VZB and alternate between 2 pipes.
Believe it or not the Dynamite 1/8th pipe gives great low end and the THS for a bit more in the middle. I have yet to find a pipe that brings any significant change to the high end on the OS VZB without destroying the low and middle lows.

I'm running the stock allum. clutch, and springs that come with the Prospec. Since I had the same engine/pipe combo on the Lightning, and it seemed ok, maybe I'll have to look into the gearing.Since I switched to the Prospec it just seems to have lost some of the top end. Don't get me wrong. It is still a VZB, and has tons of power in my opinion. Maybe I need more mid power, since it is great of the line, and can get the top end, just takes a while. Like its missing the mid range power. Make any sence?

Could be a number of things. Like I said, you might want to experiment with clutch settings. Maybe a shoe that comes in sooner. Maybe a mid-end pipe like the Ofna 053.

The difference in performance could be due to a difference in gear ratio or lack of traction. Since we're talking about two different buggies...they could very well have different internal gear ratios. Also, suspension geometry, weight, etc...are all likely playing a roll here. :) :)

I heard ofna pipes dent and break easily because they are thin. I just ordered a Jammin JP-2, i think its a mid pipe but I'm not sure. right now i have the stock xtm pipe. If i notice a difference in low end, ill tell you. I have a big track so it may not be a help to you, but you never know... It might have incredible low end.

The JP-1 is a low-mid pipe and the JP-2 is a mid-high pipe. I just ordered the JP-2 myself -- along with an Ofna 063 for experimenting. :) The Jammin pipes are really nicely made. The stinger is especially nice and strong.

i am running the hyper 7 pro/os v spec and i currently have the omega 069 pipe....it does the job...i race on small tracks also with big jumps right out of the corners....it has a very good hit on bottom and pulls good through the midrange....then seems to open up good on top.....but the biggest upgrade for a small track is the werks racing clutch....get one of those so you can set your clutch to engage when you want it to....

hope this helps

Husky, I have heard that the Werks Power clutch has issues with the Nut not being able to be secured on the shaft. DO you see that.

Sorry curious. This should really be discussed on a new thread.

none yet bro....seems fine to me....but then i use blue loctite on everything....lol....just an old hard to break habit i guess....been months now and seems ok to me

Update. Seemed fine yesterday. I went out to marshal, and noticed a small bump in the straight stretch that I couldn't see from the driver stand. I'm thinking that the track was a little dry last time, and I was loosing traction after the bump. Still want to try out differant pipes. I like the stinger on my JP-1. Mayby I'll try the Jp-2.

Coooool. I got the pipe, but i need one of those pipe mounts cuz the linkage is too short and strong to bend and the pipe mount just seems alot easier to deal with....

I run werks clutches on all of my cars, there great, i put a drop af blue loc-tite on the nut and never have had a problem, even after adjusting them.

Next point would be how man problems do you have with a alloy 3 shoe, LOTS, uneven wear, uneven spring rates, you have to de-burr, etc
