Which nitro fuel?

Hi all,

I've got a new 3.3 engine that needs to be broken in. Been out of nitro for a decade. I was going to just pick up some 25% race optifuel from Modelsport, until someone recommended kyosho hot fire fuel.

Has anyone used this? Is it worth picking up the 16% break-in variant first or going straight to 25%?

Grab the Sport blend, a capable heat gun, a temp gun, and break it in on that. The oil package will be more than enough for any RTR engine. You’d end up with a half container left of your “break in”, blend, and it’d go bad before you broke in another motor. You don’t want to do anything more than break in with “break in” fuel. Heat the motor to 230F before you start it every time, and rotate the flywheel to where the piston is at BDC (bottom dead center) EVERY time you cut it off, without fail, for the life of the engine.
