I got a venom smart temp failsafe and originally I was going mount it ontop of the radio box cover for easy access, however the probe wire proved to be slightly too short and makes it impossible. I'm looking to put it about mid-way on the right hand side of the roll bar. Any other suggestions for easy access? I'd rahter not run without it since in my infinite wisdom, I ordered a hump pack with a jr connector  since i have a jr rx, until I go and install it and remember I need a BEC connector...:loser: now I must rely on alkaline until I 1)make a adapter or 2)buy a new hump pack or 3)buy a jr on off switch.

I'd do that except I want it where its visible and easy to, outside the radiobox get to since I plan on never opening it for a while. But I'm afraid it might get damaged. I want it to be visible so I can check voltages and change settings easily.

I plan on putting mine inside there too. I'm going to notch the lid so the connector is on the outside for easy charging. Not sure where I'm going to notch it yet though.

The temp probe is to short to keep in on or in the battery box. Atleast on mine it is.

I just set mine under the radio tray thing that the box sits on. Along with all the other wires and hump pack.

How about mounting it on top of the transmission case with some of Fasteddy's super strong servo tape?

I just tried that, and the motorsaver filter is kind of in the way, but more importantly its to wide and doesn't really have a good surface to stick to. I might just end up going on hte roll bar.

go to the local hardware store and get the smallest L brackets you can get
drill a smal hole into each side of the roll bar ,and take a small pc of lexan or strong plastic and use servo tape and mount it to the tops of the brakets inside the roll bar then mount the VST to this and it wil be in the middle of the chassis ,close enough to run the temp probe around the head and also plug it into the RX and hopefully your side windows are clear and be able to see the temps

I couldn't mount it outside the radio cover as I thought as some of you have found out also that the wires weren't really long enough. I used industrial grade 1/32" thick foam tape and stuck it on the underside of the receiver tray. Just make sure you don't place to the back where the radio battery needs to be or you won't be able to put the tray back on the posts :opps: Man it was hard to remove it to place it where I should have to begin with
Also if you mount it here make sure there will be room to clear the steering servo when you place the tray back in. Then I notched the cover with a dremel for the battery wires to come out so I almost never have to open that "wonderfully" designed radio cover again!!

Thats exactly what I wanted to do except the smart temp probe needed to be atleast an inch and a half longer.
