the fix didnt work so now I'm down and haven't even got it up. haha thats what she said. anyways. i need to get a new pull start assembly for this k4.6 engine. what kind to get, where to get it, and how much? can someone post a link to where i can get a new one and brand.

i went to start it a minute it ago. it cranked on 2 pulls, but then it wouldn't go back down in the assembly.i almost got one tank through break in on this bad maama jama.

thanks guys, and happy valentines day to you and yours

I looked at the HPI site and did not see a pull start for the 28. nor did i find one on tower hobbies. If ya got a LHS near ya take the truck and ask em.

Individual Parts for the new K4.6 engine are not available separately as of yet. You will have to use another pull starter for a different engine like the one for the S-25 until the new one becomes available. Either will work fine though.

arawak420, I have a Brand New pullstart that came off of my Wasp .28 that I can let go. I will also include a brand new one-way to go w/ the pullstart. The diameter of the Wasp crankshaft is the same as the Savage 25, so I think it should fit just fine on their new engine. I can let them (pullstart & one-way) go for $16 total (that includes shipping). Just shoot me a PM if interested.

thanks liqdigi. i looked at the .21,.25 and it only has 3 mounting screws. mine has 4. i called me lhs, and asked if they had one for a .28 and he said they were out of stock and should have them in thursday. he asked me what size motor. so naw .21 and .25 wont fit.

I'm trying to figure out what evil i've done for this karma to be happening. i dont go out partying,i don't hang out with bad people (no friends at all), i sit at home in the desert at this pc. so i haven't a clue as to why my karma is this way. brand new truck, one week old, and BROKEN. go figure. things that make you go hmmmmmmmm

Just because that pullstart only has 3 mounting holes does not mean it won't fit. According to HPI the backplate for the S-25 Roto Start system will fit on the new K4.6. So the pull starter should fit as well.

The pull starter on the S-25 I had also fit on a Wasp .28. I really am pretty sure one for the .25 will fit. It also is the same size as a XTM 24.7, but that mill uses a different kind of one-way.

As for the Karma, its the nature of pullstarters, they always break. I would suggest you get a Roto Start and for get about those friggin pullstarters. Just make sure to have an extra one-way bearing on hand.

The s.25 will work. I was talken to bruce last nite to order my nova shock towers and I ask him about the roto start .. He said that they will work just fine..

so do i use my backing plate with the 4 screw holes. that means i just need the spring then? the cord is fine just a piece of the spring broke.

If the spring is broke you will need to buy the hole thing anyways..I don't think you can just buy a spring?

HUMMMM why whould you buy a new one and take it apart just for the spring???

cause the .25 only has 3 mounting screw holes. this motor has 4. does it matter that i dont use that 4th screw hole?

Thats a good question
I whould think that if it fits - 1 screw it will work just fine IMO call HPI and ask them about it there has to be replacement parts for the new savage

i would just take the spring out. it wasn't that hard to get back in. I'm waiting on digiliq to pm me back. i can get the one he has w/ the one way for $16.i found one on e-bay just the pull start for $16.50

When installing the rotostart on a WASP .28 you only use three holes and it works fine for me. I think you will be ok using just three with the WASP pullstart or the S-25 pullstart. If you go with digital liquids WASP .28 pullstart use the machined hex head screws from your k4.6 pullstart. The screws from the WASP pullstart strip very easy.

have you ran your truck yet zandor?

i'll be sure to use the same screwsa that came with the k4.6

I did two tank of break in yesterday.. I whould have finished it but my glow plug ignitor took a crap on me... And by the time I got it recharged enouf it was to cold out.. so I have to wait intill saterday to do the rest of it..

But It started up just fine well A little problems and a few bloody knuckles LOL

haha bloody knuckles. i have band-aids all over my knuckles. i wore gloves today before the pull got stuck all the way out.i just loosened the glo plug she pulled with ease. yanked it 2 times and she fired right up. it's suppose to rain until saturday, and the dirt here in the desert is farm land (silt like) and turns to clay when it gets wet. so i'll be down until i get the pull fixed anyways.
