Kinda of a noob question, but I was wondering where should I be pointing my infared temp guage, I always thought to point it at the top of the engine to the glow plug. however I have read conflicting thoughts. Someone said point it at the engine block. Confused, because after a few minutes of running I point at the glowplug and I am getting around 275-283 but when I pointed it at the engine block I was getting 237-254. Which is best.

Thank you in advance for your reply.

Take it by the glowplug. Make sure you go around the glow plug. there should be one side that is hot and the other side of the plug a bit colder. Find a happy medium in there but make sure you still see some blue smoke coming out of the pipe. I hope this helps

i take mine directly on the low plug...I have my temp gun has a lazer so i know exactly what I'm shooting.

What if we have a high plug? LOL .... all kiding put aside, aim for the base of the glow plug.

I have read that either temp at the "core" (base of the head around the glow plug), or 180 degrees opposite from the exhaust port. I have found that both areas are very similar in temps....
