I clicked a link on a web page which opened a movie in a new window via javascript and am trying to find where the movie was downloaded onto my hard drive.

Something in XP home is I can't find anything at all that I had accessed on the Internet. Inn previous versions of windows where I knew I could find anything I had accesses on temp or in temporary internet files which on XP either everything is hidden or I am missing something in my searches, both manual and via find files or folders searches.

Anyone know specifically where this, or anything I had accessed through the net was saved onto my hard drive specifically the folder that I am too blind to see?

in 2000 and xp most of the temporary files that get downloaded to your drive are in the

"C:\Documents and Settings\yourprofilename\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\"

From IE click on tools > internet options > general (Tab on top) in the center of the window you will see Temporary internet files, Click on settings. In the center of that window you will see temporary internet files. This will tell you where windows is putting them. It will also allow you to move, edit, and view them.

El, it's also possible that the movie is so big that it won't fit in the amount of space for Temporary Internet Files. Many times, on my computers, I will knock that size down to like 1 megabyte, in which case, any movie over 1 megabyte would not be stored in Temporary Internet Files.

You can change the amount of space taken by Temporary Internet Files by going to the screen Eddy pointed out and clicking on settings.

I assume downloading the movie is not an option or you would just do that instead of digging it out of Temporary Internet Files. I don't know how crafty web developers are getting with this stuff. I can remembering one time having to go into the html to get the real link to a movie.

It's possible they have some protection now to keep the movie out of Temporary Internet Files.

Good Luck

sometimes when you save something to your HD, when you click save it puts it in another folder that you have previously saved something else in. Its happend to me plenty of times. Try doing a search for the movie file extension like wav., mpeg., avi.
