my front wheeels dont like to spin at the same rate as my back ones and I'm losing speed wats the problem?

I'm curious how you determined this...unless there is a gross difference (then I understand).

Depending on a number of things this problem could be in the front diff. It could be at the wheels themselves...for instance, you could have cored the socket for the front rims. Then the wheels would not move as fast as the axle would be free spinning within the wheel without actually driving the wheel. The other possibility is that the output side of your tranny for the front portion of the truck is hosed up. Perhaps one of the output gears for the front side got loose from the shaft and is not generating the drive that it is supposed to.

You may want to start breaking things down and looking for problems like smoked gears in the diff. Loose gears in the tranny. Loose diff cups anywhere between the tranny and the front of the truck. The list goes on and on...

damn this sounds lke its going take a while
what screws go to the metal chassis braces in the rear and will the mach 26 fit in the savage

The only reason they wouldn't spin at the same rate would be because of loss of traction. It's all geared the same, so with equal amounts of traction they'll spin the same. Wait wait wait, no no scratch that.....they should spin the same either way....at least one of them anyway. If at least one of your rear wheels is spinning then at least one of your front wheels will be spinning at the same rate as the wheel with traction in the rear.

What makes you think that they aren't spinning at the same rate anyway?

BTW that's all assuming that your driveline is in proper working order.

Lost me with the screws and chassis brace question.

The Mach.26 should fit. Most people that run .26 engines in their Savages have been doing so without modifications. Just make certain you have a good engine mount and that you get the right exhaust manifold to clear the rear shocks.

have you checked to see if the drive hex's in the wheels are not stripped. i had that problem with mine. my back wheels stripped and when i would punch it just the front wheels would spin.

my chassis brace screws are gone the braces each have 1 or 2 screws in them
i didnt know about the mach 26 because its a new engine to me benn messing around with a picco for a couple of weeks now
thx for the info

Gotcha. If you have your Savage Owner's Manual, there should be a part listing. You should be able to find out what screws you need to get to replace them. If you have a good LHS, take the Savage with you next time and ask them if they have replacement screws. I'm certain they'll know which ones you need and get them for you. Cost should be minimal.

i work at my lhs. dont have an owners manual cause i got it used. I'm pretty sure that the screws arent there so i can't think of anything else to do

Gimme a second or two to search out what you need. Be right back.

thx i need to order a manual but dont feel like paying for one
do you know where i could download one or something like that

Which screws are missing? Location on the TVP? The ones at the top that go into the metal cross body posts? Or the ones that go into the plastic braces near the bottom of the TVP?

You can download the manual a page at a time from the above link.

ahhh, might be the bevel gears

hey pal,

you might have stipped out your bevel gears, i burnt mine out. rear ones went out and only the front had real traction, the rear will still spin some, but not when it has alot of stress. do your front tires have alot of power going to them, more then usual? they spin out as soon as you gun the trottle? if thats the case, get some new bevel gears, only $4.80 a set online.

keep us informed.

thanx for the info but my wheel hexes were stripped out I'm gonna ckeck my diff gears soon though.

yep mine did the same thing. i bought some pro line wheels and havent had a problem yet.

The only good thing from traxxas I've ever found is their Maxx rims. I run 2 sets on my picco 26 savage with no problems.

I thought HPI had the complete manual in pdf, not just a page at a time. that sux.

Mine did the same thing with a set of 40 series Proline Velocity and the stock ones.I eliminated the hex all together by getting a set of Savage-Central adapters and a set of Proline Outback Weld 40's for the TXT-1.I haven't stripped one yet and i've beat the crap out of them.I have another set on the way to replace my other Velocity's.Proline is AWSOME!!! I sent them a few pics of the stripped Velocity's with my RR tires on and they are sending me a new set of Outbacks AND RR tires for free!!!!!
