RC Driving Style
Well today I decided I wanted to try to get some wheelies with my Revo. I manage to tune it so it will pop them 80% of the time on grass but I want to get them on asphalt also.

I've got the TRX 3.3 with a resonator.. and I've seen and heard people with this setup pop wheelies on pavement any ideas? So far I leaned my LSN back in because I had it richened alot.

I really want to pop wheelies I'm just a basher so please don't come in and tell me why wheelies are bad for racing off the line.

You can stiffen your rear suspension so they don't absorb so much.

Please tell us how long you get till you want to jump. I got tired of the wheelies after the 5th time.

Haha my rear end is very stiff I'm using stiffer shocks ( forget which color ) and my pretension is set higher also. Still no amazing wheelies.

I'm sure Ill have fun with them for a while. Until I go FOC with Tekno boxes and move my battery up front.
 
Wheelies on grass and asphalt are different, for sure. You have inherently less grip on asphalt unless you have street treads. So even if you setup and tune for wheelies on grass, there's no guarantee you'll get them on asphalt.
 
If you move wieght to the front you will lessen the chance. Without doing any damage to the revo, your next option is to gear down to get more torque. Going with the FOC will help release some lost power through the one way.
 
Just what jon said. Lessen the weight. Get a pull start, foc and single servo conversion and your set. Thats what I did and I can't keep the front end on the ground, gets old! Anyway. Also stiffing you suspension helps too. If your bashing and really want a set up run purple rear and blue front with 50-60 weight oil, any stiffer and youll blow ends off your shocks. Hope this helps. And if the pull start seems extream, trust me its one of the best investments I've ever bought for my truck.

Well pullstart is already on my list. My Ez- Start is crap the glowplug wire broke in like the first week so I've been using a glow ignitor and the Ez-Start to crank it over.

I think ill stick with wheelies on the grass, I like the feel of my car atm and on pavement the acceleration is great. No need for wheelies there.

I have trouble keeping the front end down

My 3.3 is totally stock except for an MS Filter and mine does very cool wheelies. Just took some time to tune the engine, now I am wearing out the lower edges of my Tekno Wing. On the track it rocks especially after setting the Front Tow out and Rear tow in. Tracks strait and true.

It is amazing to me that the two schools of thought on suspension set up for wheelies still remains.

I know Jon's mention of stiffening the rear suspension works if you have a high torque set up on the engine and drive train. But I always found wheelies came easy with a speedy engine if you soften the suspension in the rear and stiffen the front. This basically allows the truck to squat all the way with throttle on and keeps the front up, allowing the rear wheels to drive up under the front...popping a wheelie.

So, if you are geared for speed you might want to consider trying the second school of thought on suspension.
