Hi All just curious what every does to make a living?
I am the night Driver Manager at a mid sized trucking co we have approximately 300 company drivers and abt 25 owner ops that lease on with us. We cover the entire lower 48 and haul dry vans some reefer units. We primarily haul bottled water like Poland springs out of Maine and del it to the new england area. We also haul alot of paper out of WI, NY ME, TN, SC,GA,AZ and CA. My job is to keep everything running smoothly at nite if a driver or customer has a problem I get paid to fix it as best as possible. If a drvr breaks down I get sum1 out to fix him, if he's being held up by a shipper or receiver I get paid to call the customer and if nes chew someones ass. There are a thousand things that can go wrong during my shift so I've got to be on the ball every minute during my shift Can you say Multi task while talking to someone typing chewing gum and checking the location of a trk via satalite LOL I love it. I've been doing this job for just over 11.5yrs and originally worked the day shift and was the primary Driver manager for the entire North East. Then I quit for a diff company they offered me more opportunities. Boy was that a mistake so I came back to where I'm working now I'm just working nites instead. It's a great job I feel as though I've earned my $$ when I leave for the day and that's important to me.
My wife works here also & this is where we met abt 9yrs ago she wrks day's, Thats prob why were still married LOL. We see each other for abt 15min each day during the week till she get's home fri at 5pm then we hav the wknd together which is great, we get stuff done around the house or just goof off.
Anyway I dont think I'd change my proffession for anything even though it's very stressfull sometimes I need 5 of me at one time becus of the stress level:jittery: :jittery: . :jittery: I think I work in one of the most important industries in the nation. With out trucks ya dont get your new computer or RC right? LOL.
We I look 4ward to reading every1's reply's take care and keep the rubber on the road and the sunny side up.
