I've got a Savage 25 engine with about 1.5 gallons through it. Had problems running and found the carb broke where it goes into the engine. The carb ring was stuck to the engine while the rest rotated free. Replaced the carb with my buddies who had just cracked his engine block. Still have the same problem as before.

I can get it started, run it a little, but if I try to take off it stalls out. Tried tuning several times, LHS tried also. Same deal, shuts off. LHS tore it apart, didn't find much wrong with the engine but cleaned it and the carb while they were in there. Got it back, fired up and ran great for about a tank. Spur gear was a little loose so I adjusted. Went to fire it up today and the problems back. I've been replacing glow plugs like their going out of style. The plug gets fouled easy and it's oily when I pull it.

Checked all the lines for leaks and had a compression check which turned out fine. Anyone got any ideas ????

Also.. since I may be replacing this engine, whats the best .26 going ?

Oh.. one more thing, any chance of getting HPI to replace it ?

How much can you open it up before it stalls? What does it sound like before it stalls--does it bog, sputter, or cut out? It sounds to me like your way too rich. If you can run it at about 1/4 - 1/2 throttle without stalling, try leaning the high speed. If it stalls even with very little throttle, lean the low speed until it runs at low speeds(even if it runs like crap--the purpose here is to keep it running at low speeds), then tune the high speed. After you tune the high speed, go back and re-tune the low speed for smooth acceleration.

I have a Wasp .26 and I couldn't be happier. I run it with an 18/49 setup. I was running 17/49 but it wheelied way too easy. Now I'm waiting for the .28 to come out so I can get it and see what it's all about.

You might want to try tunning it allitle. If you dont know how to tune use the search.

sounds like a tuning problem to me. First of all I would seal the carb with some rtv sealant, then attempt to tune. From what you are saying about the plugs It sounds rich. When you get it started lean the HSN 1 full turn you should see some improvement, If its still not right then tune from there.

I have a XTM 24.7 and its a kick a$$ engine. Strong as hell and only about $135 I don't think you can do better for that price!

Thanks for the advice guys.. I'm gonna try tuning it again at lunch. I'll let ya know

BTW it cuts out at about 1/4 speed.

check for a crack in your block thats what was ahpening to mine when i cracked my block i could statrt it and it would idle but once i hit the gas it would die out. Ifr you dont have a crack seal your back plate and carb with some high temp RTV sealer. I use ULTRA COPPER by Permatex youll beable to get it at a local hardware store.

Can't find a crack or leek anywhere. Tried tuning (with above info) and, I could get it to run, even rev up a bit, but once again it just dies. I may be a noob at this but I've had some experienced people looking also. Even the LHS has no clue at this point.

Guess it's time to upgrade to a .26 :)

I'll try to get HPI to replace it but I doubt they'll go for it with no defective part to show them.
