What was HPI thinking? Their receiver/servo tray on the Savage is about as user friendly as a pissed off grizzly. I wanted to replace the stock steering servo with my spare hi torque servo (HiTec 5645MG), and had to nearly disassemble the entire front end to get at the screws to remove the servo. What a pain.

By the way, I recommend opchecking any and all new servos before installing them in the Savage. Not a problem with the Savage, mind you. I found out the hard way that I got a bad servo after I had already installed it. I almost had the entire set-up buttoned up and ready to run and decided to check the servo. Good thing I did. Now where's that number for HiTec.....

tell me about it. I just put the reverse module in and the hardest part was installing the servo. That radio tray is a pain arse!

Would that make you guys consider buying diff trucks if you had to do it over again?(I'm lookin toward T-Maxx Monster Gt or Savage21)

Not at all. The radio tray is the ONLY cumbersome part to work on. And once you get used to it, you will find it is easier then at first. Masterring the use of the fingers I guess.

if you put the 5 cell hump pack in, a charge jack on off switch u will not have to take the cover off again except to change servos..

the only time i take mine off anymore is when the truck is in 100 pieces, and i put the lid on when it is not installed in the truck which is cake to do..

i just installed my rev movd the other day.. i di dnot have a issue with it.. but i installed it as a seperate unit, hooked the 2 together, and put it into the frame as 1 piece.. the 2 pieces being the tranny and rad box..

Even with the pain of the servo tray, I'd still buy the Savage. With a little ingenuity and work, a good RC modeler can not only overcome it, but perhaps make a mod that all can use...now where's that "good" RC modeler? :D
