hey guys,
ok my truck runs good it doesn't stall, it stays relatively cool, it will idle forever with my mip heavy flywheel, and it is realy strong and looks pretty damn good imo. i had the fantom .15 pipe, to restrictive, i got a dynamite 1/8 pipe and it ran alot better. now (at about 2/3 of a gallon on the engine) it seems to have no low end what soever and my top speed kinda sucks(it always has though do to a stock spur/clutch bell gear ratio). now i want to go faster and i have the sirio 18 but i dont think my truck will do it. heres what I've done so far:
checked drive train for binding , found none
checked piston and sleeve for wear, it had some but it was just normal wear
I've constantly monitered my temp for one tank of fuel' never got over 243
it just seems so slow on take off. i had big joe forties that why i left it at 72t spur and 20t cb. now i want to go to like 70 or even 68t spur or something (i dont think they make a 68t but whatevers close to that) but like i said i dont think the truck would be able to move!! i ordered the sirio bb pipe for my truck thinking it was the pipe, so any got a guess at whats up wit my truck. thanks

So it is your clutch maybe?

Things I would check, Slipper/clutch.

Also stock 72-20 should be just right. I went down to a 72-18 setup with a 18t clutchbell. The thing has crazy low end take off.

If you have access to 18t clutchbell, tosss one on (they are cheap) see how you like that gearing. Me, Until I get a bigger engine, I wont even think of going any higher than 18, for me its the perfect combo of low end grunt, and high speed.

if ur switching ur clutch bell from a 20th to a 18th ur also going to have to get some new ball bearings they will not fit. u will need Two 5mm x 10mm bearings, the 20th ones are 5mm X 11mm.

my slipper is basicaly locked. I've been setting up other stuff on the truck and just hadnt gotten to the slipper so i know its not that. but you guys bring up a good point on the clutch, i still havent ruled that out yet. what should i do to fix my clutch slipping?? i mean till i get my buggy setup. dosent integy or somebody maybe hardcore, ue ,or 2cool rc make aluminum clutch shoes for the stock t-maxx flywheel?? i also am gonna try the 18t cb. lykan with the 72/18 gear whats your estimated top speed??
cause I'm a good driver so 40-45 seems slow to me. thats why i want some crazy speed.

You know I just don't run enough big wide areas, I've got about 100 yards maybe a football field of dead end road, I can't top it out, not enough room to stop without endo'ing it.

The thing I love about it is right foom the git it's in it's power band, you can break loose any time you want. then when it shifts, it's immediately in it's power band again. None of the bogging you get after a second gear shift, or right off the start. Once it's moving it's go go power.

Here's a thought for you. When I had mine tightened down (the slipper) I went through diffs, and clutches like crazy. If your slipper's locked up, you;re going to burn clutches.

The clutch will be the only "slip point" So you;re either going to loose diffs, or slip the clutch, and that will glaze it quick.

For the clutch you can ge a three shoe, or get a tighter spring. I would not reccomend aluminum shoes, they make noise, and eat clutchbells.. another problem all in itself.

Get new clutch shoes, sand the inside of your CB, and let the slipper loose. I couldn't get any power outo f my maxx until I let mine loose. It needs to rev before it goes. Keeping that slipper tight makes it work from a very low RPM instead of getting up to speed befoe jetting off

thats a very good point. when mine shifts it doesn't bog it goes right into the power band!! ill def try the slipper, I'm not going threw diffs or anything else so its gotta be my cb thats taking all the abuse. I'm gonna redo my setup tonight, 18t cb new mip shoes and and reajust my slipper. thanx lykan youve been a HUGE help!!!
