can anybody tell me the differences between a slide and rotary carb?

I'm a newbie and need help on deciding how that will affect what engine i get.

help is appreciated:radio:

Doesn't really affect the engine. It does affect the linkage to the throttle servo however. Some will say the rotary is easier to set-up and some will say the slide is easier.

If you are replacing an engine, it is easier just to get the same type of carb as the old engine.

A rotary carb opens and closes by rolling back and forth. A slide carb opens and closes by sliding in and out. As far as setting them up, both are easy. If you're trying to drop it in as a replacement with as little work as possible, get the same as the old engine. How it affects running will be debateable. I always heard that slide carbs have a more responsive low end pull. But I can't say for sure...

I run slide carbs on all my R/C's... They are definately more responsive than rotary carbs. I personally recommend the slide...
Setting up a linkage to adapt for a slide carb is not real hard to do. Infact, if you buy the mill from your lhs, they could probably make up the slide linkage for ya...

What R/C are you putting this mill in?

I'm gonna drop an epic .18 bigbore in trx.15 "oldstyle" maxx, wondering what the diff was because the .15 has the rotry carb so ill get the rotry carb with the bigbore.

This is the easiest slide carb conversion kit you can buy.... I've run 2 of these kits on my maxxes with great results... No chassis mods to do, it bolts right to the motor mount using 2 side mounting screws...
