whats Pitch

I am going to buy some new gears but what is pitch.

Doing a full windup and seeing how far you can throw the old gear.

It's the angle of the teeth on the gears.

Pay attention to SAE and metric. Your 10th scale gears on your Maxx are 32-pitch SAE. There's 32-pitch metric also. The two don't mesh.

I think 99.9% of the maxx gears you'll find are all SAE.


Tamiya used to use 48 pitch metric along with Corally, not sure if they still bother.

I was reading an artical the other day that said something about raising the pitch, and this reduced rotating mass? Doesn't make any sence to me. I think it was the serpent 710 article in the RC Nitro Mag. with Static X on the cover. Is there a benefit to certain pitches?
