Hello guys

Not sure whats happening with my savage 3.5,

I have fitted all new batteries in the recevier and the control box. all charged

i have a fail safe fitted and the light is green so no signs of low battery.

so problem is driving around i heard this clicking noise.

looked into it a bit more, it seems that the front tyres are locking as if brakes were applied, not sure what this is about, then it stops for a bit, however when i was drving it around it did it again and it made the rod that drvies the wheels round, pop out of the hub,

what could be causing this problem? any ideas?

sounds like you need to tare your truck apart, the wheel that has the output shaft disengaging, and make sure that shaft doesn't disengage and stays driving that wheel....

Check for loose grub screws and any sign of worn drive parts. If those check out, look into the diff. If you run a tight slipper clutch, the diffs take the brunt of the stress.

Hello, what should i be looking for then when taking the Diff apart? to the untrained eye it all looks ok.

I've encountered that same symptoms and it was the diff.
Broken teeth everywhere - both inside and outside the (old style) diff which was completely trashed - including the input bevel gear.

You'll need to remove the diff and tear it apart and check every bevel gear.
In my case, only the bulkhead was salvageable.
In the end it was both easier and cheaper to buy a complete bulkhead set (bulkhead, diff, gears, and bearings) off the bay.

ah ha sorted it out, took the whole thing apart, cleaned everything, put it all back together, same problem. then just by luck i found out what the problem was.

Two screws that screw the front bumper to the chasis were too long and pushing on the drive rod connectors. hopefully all sorted now.

just the tuning to do :)

Well, there's a new one. At least you learned a little more about the rig....the hard way. Good luck with a good tune.

I don't give too much credit to the assemblers of RTRs and Rollers. My SNT has two different screws for the bottom shock mounts. Seems to me they aren't all that organized. Also makes it a pain in the rear to match up when you are putting stuff together.

Right still not sorted, what i can now see happening is

front left wheel locks it does seem to do this when steering, but i lifted the truck off the floor and used full throttle, the wheels spun and then front left locked and the wheels turned to the left. what could be causing this? could the hubs or spindles be the problem?

have had the front diff apart and is in perfect condition, so not sure what it could be. if there anything else i should look at?

Hello.

Had a look today, the bar that runs from the diff to the wheel hubs, when the cars wheels are turned left or right the bar looks like half of it is out of the hub almost as if it is to short. is this normal? i have changed to 17mm hex wheels and upgraded to aluminum wheels hubs recently. but didnt think there was a problem with this.

any ideas?
