I just ordered two on board temp gauges. one is for my mach .26 and the other is for my friends savage x. I was wondering if anyone could give me the safe zones of temps for these engines. thanks

I would say 220-250 is safe.

230-240 is where I like to be, but if it's running well, and the temp is 255, I leave it.

what temp will kill the engine. the x was up to 161 but looked good. my .26 only got up to 217 on high speed runs. do these temps sound normal?

Too cold! A lot of people think it's OK to just run it rich and sacrifice a little power for a longer lasting engine. The truth is if you constantly run an engine at 161 it won't last long, cold temps will ruin an engine faster than hot temps.

I just bought an Aftershock two weeks ago and I have broken it pretty good. And it ran fine while I was breaking it in there was plenty of smoke because I have made the stupid mistake of ignoring break in periods. Anyway now it wants to run really wierd it wont go through a whole tank anymore and oil just seeps out the exhaust at idle. I figure it is way too rich because the head doesn't even get that hot when you run it full throttle and plus it takes it awhile to shift to second. I was just wondering what everyone else may have their low and high speed needles set at?

Thanks,
Rusty

Hi, I purchased an Aftershock a few weeks ago and have been going through the break in process. Not too bad so far. I've run about 5 tanks and went through a new glow plug on its 4th tank. I started at 3 out on the Low Speed Needle and 3 out on the High Speed Needle (per the Aftershock instructions) and worked it from there with very small adjustments. Yours sounds a bit too rich, (does it smoke a lot?) but remember to make small adjustments (obviously beginning with the low speed setting by turning it clockwise in very small increments). After my second tank I was having a similar problem, but it gets better and better after every tank!
