To improve its performance:

Savage 25 fuel tank
3 Shoe Clutch
HPI Stainless Steel Brake kit
Fuel Filter
Motor Saver Air Filter
Alum Shocks

For safety:
Failsafe
Throttle Return Spring

Use the search or cruise the savage threads. There is a wealth of information to be had.

First hop up should always be a motor saver airfilter your engine will thank you very much.

You will also want at least one good fuel filter again your motor will thank you. Now as for what else you should do that is kind of up to you. Mostly evaluate the truck and see what bugs you about it. For me my major issues were steering wasn't responsive enough and the stock brake sucked balls.
Try this Brake

What sort of a servo are you running for steering. This is not the only weak point of the savage steering. I picked up some duratrash 6x10 bearings and they worked perfectly. I will get some aluminum bellcranks in the future. Also may want to look at a kimbrough servo saver as the stock one really puts a lot of slop in the steering. There are many many mods to do the savage to improve it but these are what bugged me. Late

Get the Monster Pirate diff pins and another set of spider gears so you can do the Diff mod. To me aluminum shock are not a must. A fail would be good as for the throttle return spring it should already have one in the kit. Also for a better servo saver go with the Monster Pirate servo saver/steering linkage.
