revo on the way... i have been researching it heavily, and i know some of the things I'm going to need right off the bat. i dont know if I'm forgetting anything though... so far, i have plans for the following:

-hardcoreracing skid plate and eventually A-arms and rockers - skid plate for sure though.

-aerostick fiberglass pushrods and turnbuckles

-fail safe

-aluminum wheels...

i think thats it. will i need http://www.lightninghobby.com/viewitem.asp?idproduct=532658

for the body... i want to cut an intake into the hood... like cut our a square U and lift if up, then build up the sides, so it looks like true ram air. should be slick. am i forgetting anything? i got the charger and battery stuff too...

i can't wait to break this thing in...

get the motor saver. its a must and it gives the engine more air and is safer than the stock one

I own two Revo's and my friends have two. here's some items to have and avoid:
Spare glow plugs , especialy for break-in. I used the stock air filter for break-in, then switched to the "motor saver". If you get a tight motor, you may need a hot air gun to pre-heat the head to get it to start. One of mine would'nt turn over until we used the heat gun.
Here's a bfief kist of stock items you may need:
1. Spare shock ends
2. Rod ends
3. Upper and lower, front a-arms (you could get rear too, but I doubt you'll use them)
4. Angled body clips, as the stock ones hurt ma fingas!
5. Spare stock spur gear(I haven't needed it yet)
6. 45-50 wt shock oil, as the stock wt is too low (35?).
I bought failsafes, but they would'nt work right, I was told by the Traxxas rep that the Revo has a built in failsafe, in addition to the throttle device. So I'm not running a failsafe on it.
I bought a front and mid skid plate for them from New Era, but be advised, they add weight! I thought the Hardcore where over priced,IMO. We also replaced the shock rod ends, spring supports, collars and caps w/ New era aluminium ones. However, the stock shock caps work better, as they have a small hole dilled in the side to bleed off excess pressure. The New Era's look nice and wont melt from the muffler, but some of the collars didn't fit too well.
Here's a BIG no no:
Don't waste your money and time with the close ratio gear set, at least not with the 36T spur! We swapped out to that combo after my tranny ate a gear. The close ratio w/ 36T spur was slower than stock and didn't want to shift. Unless you go BB, stay stock in the tranny.
We love our Revo's and are VERY happy that we purchased two of them, no regrets whatsoever! Well,I wish they came with a BB stock!
Follow the break-in instructions to the "T" and you wont be un-happy.
Let us know how it turns out.
See ya!

OOPS!
I meant to type brief, not "bfief"!

A fuel filter is also not a bad idea. Some of the REVOs had a problem with plastic debris in the fuel system.

I'm not so sure about that. I don't think the optidrive qualifies as a failsafe. It only gives an indication of low battery. I'm running a venom failsafe and have no problems. Besides if you go with the FOC, then you have no optidrive anyway.

I may be mistaken, but that's what that thun thar Traxxas ofishal dun said.
BTW,
What is an "FOC"?

which version of this engine will fit in the revo? my mind is pretty much made up on this engine. after reading all about the sirio 23 and all sorts of other engines, i do believe that i am now in love with the 18TZ <3

i dont even have my revo yet, and i already want a new engine for it... /sigh. i will trash my 2.5r first... its snowy here, so i will have fun in the snow with it.

now does the motor saver replace the air filter, or cover it? and this engine takes a bigblock air filter... so what change would that make. man, am i excited about all this stuff... i can't wait to get this thing in the mail!! 2 more days...

ok... edit, will this FIT in the revo? or do i need the 18TM?? the OS website shows the 18TM with the revo or traxxas truck in general... but the TZ says it will fit in any small block mount. I've gone and confused myself now. little help on this topic?? thank you.

There's an OS .21 that I'm told will drop right in and work w/ the EZ start. I'm strongly considering that option.
You're gunna love yo Revo!

thats nice... but i imagine it costs a bit more than the .18, and if its the one i think you're talking about, its 299, and if thats the case i might as well get the sirio23. although i think OS really has their sh!t together. show me a link to the .21 you're talking about, so i can compare it to the 18tz. i just watched a video of the 18tz in the revo, and it was amazing.... AMAZING. http://www.rcpics.net/view_single.php?medid=44960

hard to say for sure if its for real, and thats the engine in it, but thats what it says. just something about the 18tz... show me the 21 though, i am interested

Nope, My LhS told me $199.00, and it's a drop in. Yesterday I was pulling wheelie after wheelie in my stock Revo!

BTW,
That is an impressive video!
