hi everyone about 2 days ago i was about to run my hpi nitro rs4 mt in my back yard for a little bit. i did the usual turned the remote on the the reciever put the glow starter on the glow plug waited a min i pulled the starter and the freaking clutch bell thing and clutch just come off. i never touched it before the last person who touched it was the guy at the hobby shop. i have the worst luck with this stuff.

That's why you don't let other people jack with your cars. If you found the CB after it came off (it IS possible to loose it...) check with your Cars website and find an expoded view of the part. Put it back together and see if anything strange happens.

Also check to make sure that's not the only part you lossed,cb's have bearings that you need to keep in order to use it correctlly.

thanks i went to the site made sure i had everything. while i was putting it back together i by mistake litteraly peiced my right palm with a small phillips screwdriver. i will be the only kid that i know who can put a toungue ring in their hand. :spit:

BIG TIP #5000:
Use some blue (medium) threadlock on the phillips screw that holds the clutchbell on. It's possible that whoever tinkered with it last didn't lock the screw and may not have tightened it much. So it's possible it spun out.

I put a pair of sharp tipped wire cutters thru my fngernail last night. This is a dangerous hobby...

i got a hobby knifes blade jammed in my finger! al the way to the bone.. lol.. lets just say there was ALOT of blood on my Floor and on me. I'm on blood thinners so i bleed alot..

but back to your prob. I've had it happen to me before on my old RS4... and alot on my GT since it uses a E-clip....

as candyman stated use threadlock on it next time... but not too much

Dannyd, in my opinion, stay away from metal spur gears. Yeah, it's a pain to have to replace stripped spur gears, but it's actually better for the truck overall. You need a weak point between the clutch bell and your drive train to avoid something major going wrong. It's a lot cheaper replacing a spur gear than it is diff gears. You can look into spur gears made of Kevlar or other types of plastic, but I suggest keeping them plastic.

You'll get a lot of opinions on this, so make the decision that's best for you!

Heya

I own the same truck, and i feel your pain with the spur gear as i used to eat them on a regular basis from HARD bashing. I found the upgrading to the slipper clutch reduced my problem SIGNIFICANTLY! Also, I invested in a spare spur gear setup so if that happens while I'm at the track or at the field bashing, I can just drop it in and repair the other one when I get back home!

Also, if you plan on upgrading you engine, i strongly suggest you shim your diffs, as i learned the hard way more power = more stress = more broken parts
