What temperature outside should i not run my revo at? I've heard that you shouldnt run them below freezing. And is it ok to run the revos in the snow??

Thanks

Extreme cold can be hard on the engine. My 3.3 likes to run at around 260-270F, so if it's 40F outside, it's much harder on the motors, getting hot and then cooling down that far.

My 3.3 has 3 gallons on it so I'll probably run it this winter and get a new motor next spring and keep the current one to use in the winter. I'm not sure there is an ideal 'do not run' below a certain temperature.

Ideally you should have waterproof servos if you run in the snow. Water will find it's way into them and cause problems eventually.

I have never run a nitro below 40 degrees F, but in the past when I ran in the 40-45 degree range I would put a sock or rubber band some paper to the heatsink head to block airflow in order to get the temps up.

Don't expect to run the engine at the same temps as a warm day. For example, when I was running at 40 F, the engine was running at about 200 F. Also, when it's cold, you run richer not leaner.

Olds97 should chime in about the snow as I've seen him post pics of his Savage with icicles on it.

no leaner cause the colder air is more denser so you may have to lean it for temps to come up since the change i dont adjust it and it runs fine

You are incorrect. Yes cold air is more dense BUT you must increase the amount of fuel delivered to keep the same air/fuel ratio.

+1.......... every nitro manual I've read that describes weather conditions, colder = richer engine settings........... hotter = leaner engine settings. Since we've gone to much cooler/colder conditions here, I've had to make the engines quite a bit richer to keep the correct tune.
