hi

as a soon to be savage owner (go me!) i was wonder what the best springs to use are?

i will be doin light bahing (small jumps etc), off roading and rock crawling sorta thing.

i can get a set of 8 purple hpi springs for very cheap, would these be too strong with no spacers on? i want the shock to bring the car back up fully if i can.

if i remember right red shocks were soft, and black were stiff, i dunno what color a medium type would be but i'd go for the medium. hope that make sence.

mud

i run the tripple rate springs. i love them. some people say they dont like them. there soft at first for small dips an bumps but VERY stiff when you try to bottom it out.

you dont want your springs to lift the truck all the way up. the savage is top heavy all the way up and will flip over very easly in turns if it is standing all the way up. the tripples are a touch shorter then the stock springs, and imo lets the truck set perfectly so it doesn't flip nearly as bad.

thanks but it doesn't really help me.

has anyone had these springs on their savage?

is it worth me getting them if there very cheap?

they are classed as super firm.

as far as i know the purple springs are what came stock on the first SS i had a set of them. there fine for normal use. as far as i know there the same firmness as the black ones on the .25. just about any spring will work if all your doing is putting around.

what is on your savage atm? what do they do or not do that you do or dont like? we need more info befor we can tell you if you need to switch.

well i dont acctually have it yet, but my friend, as she put it, 'have all the rebound of a wet cardboard box'
(the black springs that is)

i just dunno if to buy um or not. (purple springs). i was looking at the dual rate ones, they would probably suit me best. (but there pretty expensive)

i know on supercharged's sav they dont have any rebound, but , that could be due to them being 3-4 years old!

it will be a bone stock savage 25.

i could be misinterpreting what your saying but if the shocks

" 'have all the rebound of a wet cardboard box' "

sound like they will need to be rebuilt with new oil (if they have any now) i have the black springs with 40wt oil & they have great rebound

EDIT: what I'm trying to say if the shock itself isnt in good shape, no spring will make it good

I bought a new Savage 25 RTR about a month ago. It came with the green springs installed which are listed on Towers site as:

"Medium firm in between the Blue Firm #6745 (HPIC6745) and the softer Red #6743 (HPIC6743)"

It also came with the black springs in a seperate bag. The black ones are the stiffest. With the grren springs it sags a little but handles decently. You could still easily flip it at an ok speed. I wanted it to sit the highest too but I'm not going to install the black springs as I think it will be flipping too easily then again it really depends on how you plan to use it. Try it out the way it comes first and go from there. All the springs are cheap anyway.

its will be a brand new truck!.

my friend said that about the black springs, when she bought her savage 25.

i might just go for some dual rate springs, best of both worlds.

I think the black/purple (can't see a difference between them) springs work great for bashing.
