So I'm rebuilding my HPI firestorm 10T engine, and I was wondering what oil you would recommend for me to use when putting it back together.

Alot of people say to use after run oil, but I'm using sidewinder fuel, and they say not to use it. Is it okay to use in this kind of situation.

any awsner would be apprieciated :)

ARO for assembly should be fine. They say only to not use the ARO after running the fuel for the day.

for engine assemble use permatex ultra slick item# 81950, get it at advance auto. it is thick, but will clean out the first time you start the engine. marvel mystery oil, i use it to run through my RC intake at the days end, to keep it from rusting. not that the others are no good. i all so use it my street truck. makes it start faster. got more info at "Bob is the oil guy"

3n1 oil is my best friend. Usually when rebuilding my engine i buy like 2 bottles of 3n1 oil mixed with some 10w30. fill up alittle container with it so the sleeve and piston can be submerged for about a day or just over night let that metal soak up the oil then assemble and break in. I've been doing it for years for all my nitro trucks and the engines last average 5-6 gals before they start to act up a little . With proper maintenance and couple drops of 3 n 1 after every run your engine will be happy and smooth.

I've also noticed that when ever I'm having issues with tuning .. ill put a drop of 3n1 and the engine will just suddenly run awesome..

when soaking piston, sleeve in oil does the oil actually go into the metal? iam sure my MMO in my 1:1 makes a difference.

When the sleeve and piston are machined from a block its just dry metal, when its soaked in oil it absorbs it.

Just like when rebuilding engines in real life you wanna make sure everything is getting a good bath in oil because 1. the first start up is the most friction because of the piston and sleeve are so tight.. 2. a piston on first start up thats dry causes alot of wear very quickly .. thats why personally when ever i start my savage i put 2 drops of 3n1 in the glow plug hole and it loves it. Friction on an engine is its worst enemy .

In general.

1. soaked sleeve in oil is better than a dry sleeve.

2. Soaking the sleeve will decrease friction on the first start up

3. Your engine will most likely last longer and run alot smoother if you start make sure the sleeve and piston are oiled.

Dont be shy with the oil, after starting it up.. try to get it to idle and run as rich as you possibly can. I mean oil just dripping out the exhaust while its idling .. this will also ensure your engine is not running dry.
