A good 1-2MPH if you just get Rolex to push it around like he does with his.

But they really are pretty fast trucks!

I had a thread on here with my postings of my radar runs, the best I got out of my stock savage with the 18-47 gears was 42mph I think. Now I have a K5.9 in it running 50mph. I can't wait till I get a 3 speed!

Last time i checked, it was 47mph. But can't wait till summer comes back to see how fast its gonna go with the 3 speed trans. with the gear swap to the high speed 3rd gear. But next summer is so far away!!:\

Stock Savage X with the K4.6 radared at 38-39 mph on RC Car actions test.
It takes extensive lightening of the truck and a good engine to break 40 mph.

LOL ya right.

Crack a new savage X totally stock out of the box, break it in, do not touch the gearing and it will not even come close to 45mph. If you find one that does, video it and I'll send you my next paycheck...$4,500

My Savage has been clocked at 53.4 MPH....LRP Spec 3, THS Savage tuned pipe, three speed with the (Higher) top gear.....18/47 gearing

ah man that is awesome. My goal is to break the 50mph barrier with mine. I got the k5.9 in it with 18/47 gearing, HPI tuned pipe and only hit around 48mph. Next summer I'm dropping a 3 speed in it with the higher gear...CAN'T WAIT!! I'm sure that will make a difference.
What kind of a difference did the 3 speed make on yours for mph?? And then with the higher gear? I am very interested to find out.

The three speed was the biggest difference for sure....I think the higher third gear did help a good deal though. I geared back down though just because I needed more torque less speed.

what are you running for gearing now? I have 15,16,17,18,21 tooth bells and my spur is a 47. It works incredibly well with the 16/47 combo, but for higher speeds I bell up to see what i can get out of it.

I am running a 17/47 now and it works pretty good. Now that I think about it more I was running the 19/47 when I got the 53 MPH. Lots of top end....not much on grunt power. It would still pull the wheels up but not as reliably as the 17/47 does now.

Oh ya and your running a .28 engine eh? Man I wonder if mine would do more than 53mph with its big block 5.9? probably not. Yeah I love the 16/47 combo right now, when I get the 3 speed I will try every gear from the 17T to the 21T that I have. It will be interesting. That has to be the absolute best set-up for high speed on a savage? Pretty much the biggest engine you can put in it, biggest tranny you can put in it, and after being geared it'll be the ultimate Savage X high-speeder.

Hey curious, would it get more speed with the phaltline tires (that keep shape), then the stock foamy dirt tires?
