Is the oil that much differance in thickness over normal 89/90 gear oil??? or is the 10K,30k oils or is it just a gimmic??

Car diff oil is petroleum based & RC diff fluid is silicone based.

The RC diff fluid has different weights to it so you can tune the diff for different tracks & or driving styles, there is no gimmick to it.

The thicker the diff fluid the more bias you get at the wheels.

Thin fluid let the inside wheel unload faster when cornering, Thick oil helps to keep it planted & pulling instead of spinning.

If you had some 120,000 weight oil for you rc diff you'd understand. Yes, it is silicone, but you really have to squeeze to get it out of the bottle.

Car oil is not a thick as silicone oil as well. Another thing, it does not thin out with heat like a petroleum based oil does. You can have grease in the diffs and it will be nice and heavy but but the end of the run it will be like water in there. Silicome remains pretty constant.

Silicone will always flow. Petroleum grease will be displaced, prtroleum oil will break down and/or leak right out. Like joey said, there might as well be water in there.

Ok that is what I was wanting to know. I've never personally felt the differance in the oil that is why I was asking before I went and bought some and found out later the other stuff would have worked. THANKS
