Alright i know i already put a post like this but i didnt really get many answers when i have my savage engine hot or cold and i push it it "clicks" when i push it it slows down like someone is hitting the brakes but off and on and when i just had it idling to high and it moved forward slow everytime when it would "click" it would stop then i gave it gas and it started going again is this something with the diffs by any chance? I've narrowed it down to somethings and that is what i think it most likely is.

Could be in the tranny too.

The diffs are easier to get into and look at so maybe start there if you go inspecting gears.

At the same time, check your spur gear and mesh with your clutch bell.

A click can come from many places so I'm shooting in the dark.

I was lookin in the tranny and one of the gears looked crooked, is this the problem?

nope nothing was wrong but the crooked gear if tahts the prob how much would it cost to fix?

YOUR best bet, is to bring it to your LHS & let them have a look.
If you really want to learn in this hobby, you'll have to dive in. Look at your manuals exploded views & find the gear. Take the part # and look it up on Tower. That will give you the price $$......

Definately replace the gear if its bent, also check the shaft it rides on.

Have you checked the diffs yet?

Just curious while the engine is off does it make the noise when you move the truck back or forwards? My first guess would be the gear mesh.

If it does while it not running and you slide it backwards/forwards, it could also be your 2 speed screw backed out, but, then you would not be able to roll it backwards most of the time.

Under those bottom skid plates you will find the diff's. PLEASE get out the manual and take pictures while taking them apart so you are 100% certain of how they go back together. Inspect for missing teeth and broken pins/parts.

I don't have a Savage, but tell me if this is possible. First, we have a few possible causes. Tranny. Diffs. Gear Mesh. I would first either remove the engine or at least separate the gear mesh. Push the truck. If it doesn't click, gear mesh is the culprit. If it clicks, it's either tranny or diffs. Is it possible to somewhat easily remove the front and rear center driveshafts? If you can, do it. Then push the truck. If it still clicks, it's the diffs because the tranny won't be turning. If it doesn't click, then it's most likely the tranny.

Is my logic right?

yes it does it when i push it backwards and ill use the manual dont wanna mess nuthin up:)

its not the mesh i took the engine off and stil does it........ i then found out the spur gear was not even, when i spinned it, it was wobbling back and forth. what do i do ?

I had a small stone caught between the spur gear teeth drove me nuts until I fount that was all it was...sheww!

alright i looked at the crooked gear again in the tranny it wobbles just like the spur gear and seems to rub on the gear in front of it so I'm gonna replace it............ do i replace just the crooked gear or what?....... since the spur also wobbles?

Should i just replace the rod the spur goes on..... is that whats causing the spur to wobble?

sounds like the brake may be rubbing, alot of plastic gears are untrue,it usually dosnt present a problem, however if both gears seem to wobble excesively it could be the shaft!

its pretty cheap I'm sure, the tear down and replacing it will be more of a problem than cost!

Well the crooked gear is the problem it was rubbin on the gear in front of it pretty bad my lhs is gonna be puttin the new gears on it hopefully this fixes it...
