I just got a Rc10 last week and was wondering what a good running temp is for the .15 engine. I want to make sure its running right so it will last me. Thanks

:mex:

Jesse I'm sure you have read in the past that you shouldn't be tuning for a specific temp. You should be tuning so the engine runs with good punch and top end, making sure that you still have smoke. Now if you have this and your running at 300 i would say there is a problem. Most engines like to run anywhere from 220 -250 I don't like to go more then that. Just make sure you have a nice steady stream of smoke and you should be fine.

I was going to say; from memory, the GT-RTR engine likes to run at around 225, give or take 5 degrees either way. Anything hotter than, say, 240, and it will cause the engine to have a shorter lifespan.

That's according to the propaganda that comes with the engine. Personally, I tune for performance, and use temperature (at tune) as an indication of lifespan. But that's just my bass-ackwards way of doing things :D

I would say from 220-250... I didnt have a temp gun when i had my .15, but i think it was overheating a lot when i was running it... Both of my friends and i had a problem with the carb... The LSN unscrews and falls out.. that happened to myself and two friends... They were tuned nicely... Didnt notice untill i went to refuel... it was sticking out pretty far, and i touched it and it fell out... Maybe it was just the o-rings wearing out or something, but it was weird.

Thanks guys, vbgagnon I have it running really good it gets up and moves :), I just wanted to make sure it wasn't running to hot and in turn the engine wearing out faster. I will check the temps on it today, plus I just got a temp gun and want to play with it lol. I have been checking the temps on everything from my kids to the A/C lol
