I'm looking to switch fuel, "want a lower oil content." I'm having OWB slipping issues and feel a lower oil content and pull starters on both my K4.6 and F4.1 will help.

I'm thinking about running 20% Odonnell, "their web site says that the oil content is 8%," just curious to see what everyone else is burning in their Savages.

Also, what is your favorite glow plug to run?

Traxxas 20% and an HPI R5 glow plug. No Issues with the OWB or engine temp. I know theres alot of people on here that hate Traxxas fuel but I only have one complaint- it does make a mess.

I'm using the same fuel and glow plug that you are srusinek and I can't get the temps above 160*F on my K4.6 and my F4.1 runs right around 180*F to 185*F

Where are you located srusinek? I'm in Colorado and I'm at about 5000 to 5500 feet above sea level. I have a feeling that the altitude is making a difference for me too.

I'm hoping to be able to get a better tune with less oil and bring my temps up a little bit.

I also don't like the mess of the Traxxas fuel. All of the LHS's around my area carry Traxxas, Blue Thunder and Losi Nitrotane...

Yeah, its taking me a minute to get caught back up on the whole nitro thing lol I haven't ran nitro in at least 10 years...

Traxxas Top Fuel has 16 or 18% oil in it if I remember right.

So the 12% in the Monster Horsepower would make a huge difference. Odonnell and the Trinity Platinum have 8% oil.

byrons race 2000 gen 2 race blend that is 20 percent 12% lubrication

Chumlee I'm getting around 210 at the most but I'm only 1 turn past the groove and I still have another half turn to go. I'll probably go in another quarter to 1/3 turn in from where I'm at. I'm still hitting all three gears and getting a lot of blue smoke but some fuel does come out. I'm in western ny by Niagara falls. I also forgot to mention that I'm running an XL with a 5.9.

Odonnel 20% with 16 % lubrication. I'm running a Savage XL with an Ofna Force .32. the 5.9 is a turd of an engine I had the same owb issues. It's because the owb sits inside the crankcase and gets saturated with oil. The .32 has an external owb and I haven't had a single problem with it yet. Plus it runs circles around a 5.9.

I've heard that the 5.9 isn't the best mill that HPI has put out.

My K4.6 isn't fully broken in yet but it still seems to have a bit more power than my F4.1. I really like both of the engines I have, just need to get past the OWB issue.

I found a LHS that stocks gallons of 20% Trinity Monster Horsepower, so I think I'm gonna clean my OWB's and put pullstarts on them and see if this fuel helps a little.

It should help a little but in my experience once they start to slip they are pretty much done for. Cleaning them may get you a few more starts but that's about it. I would suggest getting new owb and new start shafts for both of them. The K4.6 is a pretty good engine for the price. I've had mine for almost 2 years now and just now starting to have owb issues with it. They take forever to break in though, mine didn't really come to life until it had about a gallon and a half run through it. It's been in my Savage X, my XL, and now it's in my neighbor's XL. So I can't really complain about the K4.6. The K5.9 on the other hand is a piece of crap IMO and my neighbor agrees.

Use CRE(Clockwork Racing Engines) fuel. It's 30%, dunno the oil content though. I find it ALOT better than Sidewinder and a few others.

Fuel

We run 15 percent S&W Fuels ,we have no problems keeping tune on any of the trucks that BASH here. We run from a Pro 15 to HPI 5.9 on this fuel. Great fuel at a good price!!!

i run my savage on byron race 2500 25% nitro and 11% oil content it runs great on this and is some of the best nitro fuel I've used
