I got my new engine this past week - and tonight or tomorrow i'm gonna swap in the new 3.3 for the dead old one...question is what else should i do when in there? truck was used when i got it..and i have like every replacement part - new slipper - new linkage, 3 shoe clutch conversion - etc..should i do it all for new parts? or only replace what i think needs to be done? Is the slipper just a matter of taking the nut off and pulling the pieces out in order and reassembly if the engine is out? I just want to start fresh...i'm assuming if the whole clutch assembly comes off it's not a bad idea to do the 3 shoe conversion at the same time right? let me hear your guys thoughts...

Dan

It's good thing to go ahead and do the clutch conversion. It's probably best to install all of the parts at one time.

I would definitely do the clutch conversion with the new engine.
As far as the other stuff, I guess it depends on the condition of the original parts and how satisfied you are with how the kit runs. A new slipper clutch always sounds appealing, so does checking your linkage for symmetry. I bought some digital calipers and reset all my linkage and was amazed how much better and faster my Revo was. It was pretty jacked before that, but still.
I think I would do all of it also.

i think i will change it all out - i have the universally hated Integry or whatever 3 shoe clutch conversion...it looks ok..but everyone says it's crap...i'm going to do the slipper no matter what if it's easy...and new linkage is easy to do anyway....

Well - got the new motor in, the new 3 show clutch, and a new slipper backplate - the slipper i bought off ebay had the wrong spur gear :( - oh well - the pads looked ok..and i replaced the hardware and the nut..it hooks up great - new motor started and ran great following the right break in procedure....and the real fun? I hooked up a tiny wireless camera on a mount i made on the roll hoop! looked right down the roof of the truck..shot some quick video and it is funny as well..the frame rate sucks on the camera...so it is choppy..and the range is only like 100 feet - and when on the gas and the front end comes up pal lyou see is sky - but i will adjust it later - but i did flip it once and made me laugh...i'll have to DL the video and post it...glad to get the truck back up and running again...forgot how much fun it was after 3 weeks of misery!

Yeah I know what you mean, I just broke my T-Maxx in sunday morning after putting in a new piston, sleeve and connecting rod. Glad to have it back up and terrorizng the neighborhood again lol. I'll have to tear it back down this week though when my Davis Deisels heavy duty connecting rod gets here.

well it is what you get when you buy a used truck...the guy had admitted to racing it...and i beat on it pretty hard when i got it..think the motor just went from use...sucked...but now back up with a new motor and it was fun again! i posted the camera fottage in a new thread..i have a spare front bumper so i'm going to cut it out and mount the camera in it to protect it and to get some good on board front end video...we'll see how it goes!
