what do you think of the picco .26

I think someone on this forum has one... They said it was a strong engine, but somewhat hard to tune...

I just bought one from Bruce at RushRC. Installed it in a brand new roller chassis Stadium Maxx. Used a THS pipe for a T-Maxx. Pipe does not fit right as it is just short of having the exhaust point out the bottom hole provided on the stock chassis for exhaust.

Broke in ok. No tuning issues. Still need to find the right pipe, though.

Anyone know of a pipe for this configuration?

RD logics makes nice T-maxx Pipes...that mill is too new so I haven't tried one yet....I wait for the price drops on new stuff

Plaid, the problem I am having is that the T-Maxx style pipe from THS is coming up just short of having the exhaust exit at the hole cut in the bottom of the stock T-Maxx chassis. I showed this to mmy friend at the lHS and he can't figure it out. We tried several otehr pipes and they all do the same. A 1/8 buggy pipe is too long and all other T-Maxx pipes and manifolds too short. I think it is because the motor block on the OFNA/Picco .26 is just a bit bigger than the 2.5R and makes the exhaust manifold start farther back to begin with.

I have one, but I can't help ya, sorry, lol. It's been sitting on my bench for a few months now. I have been meaning to give it a try in my Savage SS. Actually I did break one in for a friend, it seemed to have a lot of power and it was not all that difficult to tune.

Ofna/Picco .26 is the engine that almost all of my friends use in their monster trucks.
No tuning issues, and they have A LOT of power.
I said "A LOT" of power!
I have the Ofna/Picco .27, with the green head. I haven't installed it yet, but some of my friends also use this mill. It is also very powerfull, if not more powerfull.
I suggest it to anyone.
Just make sure you airseal it, as you would any engine, and you shouldn't have any tuning issues.

How do you airseal the engine?

Is the CVEC pipe a good pipe to use? because it seems to stall. like the fuel Is building up in the pipe and staling or is that normal because of breaking in the engine.

Iam on the 6 tank of my break in and WOW this engine has some power.

After worming up the engine I hit the gas at 65% throttle and the maxx dose a back flip and landed on the roll cage!! :whhooo:

It is stalling because it is soo rich. Do you have a temp gun? if so make sure you are hitting 200* otherwise your doing nothing for the eingine!

i figured out way in was stalling it was because i did not have the tune pipe back presser right. I set the CVEC pipe to have more back presser and the truck ran great.

i just got done breaking in the truck.

WOW it has a lot of power and pop wheelie on command :jittery:

Revo if the fitting a pipe is a big PITA try the slimeline rear exhaust pipe.....it's made for the stock maxx but I thought it was a little too open for the stock engine to build Back pressure from but worked real well w/ a picco .21.....guys are you all talking about the MAXX .26 or the regular OFNA .26.......I'm interested in hearing about the one Revo has that is made to fit a stock maxx chassis.....

true true....I've seen 2 other threads get crossed over this same engine when people were talking about one type and the thread was about the other.....

Plaid, I was talking about the OFNA/Picco Max .26, the same one Bruce at Rush sold me.

Thanks for the pipe tip.

lol Picco .26 just messed up my rear diffs!! :hammer: i think it was from all the wheelies I was doing! and I missed up my front diffs to from stopies

dose any one know of any good diffs I should get

Umm... You could go 1/8th scale and not worry about em again, but then you need the 1/8th scale gear boxes or bulkless. I have a pair of Maximizer Ultra diffs with RRP diff gears. They are pretty much the best 1/10th scale diffs you can buy (i just got tired of trying to adjust them). I got a couple break in tanks on em, then called it quits. They are sitting on my table in my room, i havent had time to throw em up on ebay. PM me if you are interested, and we can discuss a price.
