There's a carpet track near me, but I don't have any tires for carpet racing. I just want to buy some cheap tires for my Bandit so I can go on carpet occasionally. Which tires have the best grip pattern?
The first option looks most promising, AND they're on dish rims.

None of those ideally. What type of carpet? Crc? Eos? Office? Turf?

I run promotion vipers (green) on my 2wd bug. JConcepts fuzz bite (pinks) on my 4wd bug.
JConcepts fuzz bite rear / swagger front on my rustler
Schumacher mini pin (blue) on my slash

Raced on both CRC and office carpet this past winter season and all those setups I listed do pretty well. Might have to glue the sidewalls if it's too much traction. Or for those mini pins, trim a few rows in the sidewalls. Most are driver preference on how they like to drive and traction levels.

I agree with @jojobeans . Maybe some local racers have an old set that they can give / lend to you. Or speak to them to see what tires are the best. Most racers are helpful, very helpful.

Speaking from the pictures. Larger spike / pin tire rear and wedge tire fronts. Popular for turf. For the fronts, Jcon swaggers would do just fine. Rears, not sure. Don't have tons of turf experience but I'm pretty sure jcon or Schumacher might have something for it. But like said, easiest thing to do is ask the local racers, or if they have a Facebook group, that would be nice to ask there so you don't have to physically go to the track until you get a fresh set of rubbers. 😉

Here's another picture. What I'm thinking is I can just find some tires that look similar and use those. I'm not a professional carpet racer, but I do want to have some fun and pick up some skill along the way. I don't need the best of the best gear, but I do want something that will work. Thanks guys!

Tires are the one thing you don't want to cheap out on. Not to sound like a broken record, but you need to 100% ask the other racers. Tires will make or break your experience... it's the difference between spinning out on every corner and becoming a track hazard/liability compared to getting some clean laps in and making improvements. Show up and run the stock tires for a few laps, introduce yourself and ask for recommendations from the racers. You will save a ton of money by not buying the wrong tires. You'll also likely need a transponder and that's the perfect time to ask what lap counter they're using.

You can get away with some less than ideal tires on a dirt track. But, carpet is a whole other animal.

Ohhhh. Good point. Well, more than likely I'm going on Saturday. We'll see what happens! 😅

Remember to have fun and don't be afraid to get out there and volunteer as a corner Marshall otherwise @DavidB1126 will be very upset with you! 😉

Keep us posted too, I'm interested in what your little bandit transforms into over the next couple months of racing. If they're using a Trackmate system, I have a few transponder I can sell you for very cheap too since I won't be using them for a while.

I won't change too much (I don't think?), as it'll still be Resto-Bandit, but who knows?
Oh, and don't worry, I'll let you know what system they use. Thanks!
