Ok we as you Fantom owners know I was not happy about the crank issue but i got past that. The issue I did have was that the engine did not like to idle and also the HS needle would at times be unreceptive any way I talked to Jeff at Fantom racing and he told me to send him my carb and he would send me a new one. In our emails I addressed what I like to call the assanine placement of the idle screw. He said it was placed there to hold the airfilter on, but as it turned out people still wanted to use a zip tie. So anyway with the new model year 03 motors they would have the new carb. Well when I sent mine in all he had to replace mine with was a New one which is actually sweet cause i would have looked at getting one anyway. So here is a pic of the old one and the new one.

Notice more than a few improvments they have went to a diffrent idle screw change the HS neddle to a real screw a larger lip for you air filter to seat under and a aluminum arm instead of that rubber pos. Only thing I dont like so far is only one whole in arm no place for a return spring.

Any way I didn't get a new gasket with this carb so I am gonna go on a hunt tonight or tomorrow any of you guys now of a another gasket that will work? TRX? OS? Thanks X

If you use the Team Losi return spring set-up, you don't need two holes in the throttle arm. Just use the "eye-let" pieces that come with the spring set. The end of the throttle rod that passes through the throttle arm hole should be long enough to take one hole of the "eye-let piece" and the drum that you use to hold the throttle rod in place. Attach the springs to the other hole in the "eye-let".

A picture being worth a thousand words...here goes:

Please note that I use a quick release rod end on my throttle rod, but the concept is still the same.

Thanks for posting the images and the information. The price tag on that bag of rotary carb kind of took me back ($53.00--ouch). It does look like they made some great improvements on the design. Should my current carb break, this looks like a great replacement/hop-up part for my Fantom.

At last they've sorted it out!
I shall be trying to track one down in the uk.

Who makes it?
Link?

Took me a bit to dig up a link on it. DuBro makes it and Tower Hobbies has it for $1.85/pair. Here's the link:

Near the bottom of the page they list other sizes available. I believe the 2-56 is the size I have as my rod end.

Ok well tonight I installed the new carb and my first impression its a 1000 X better. I was about 40 outside and I didn't preheat motor just put on my igniter for a minute. Then 2 pulls and it started right up very fat. Anyway I only had about 45 minutes to play with it and I had to adjust my linkages again and installed a throttle return spring. Anyway I got it running decent it was running nicely sitting aroung 235-240 and it idled like a champ after I had leaned it out. when I would bring it to a stop it just droped right down to a nice idel. I am very pleased so far. I think this new carb is going to help Fantom to go to the next level now if they just add a few more threads on that crank we will all be happy. X

Oh here is a pic with it installed I had a Losi Throttle return spring just didn't have the tab. So I took a small body click I like the little thick ones they are tough to get on and off but they dont bend and pop off near as bad as large ones. Anyway I cut off the bottom part and then I ran rod through top and screwed the bottom part on below the tranny screw. Also I striped my Head on My Fantom while I was waiting on the carb. I think it looks a lot better... X

Looks very nice. Glad to hear the carb works as well as it looks. Let us know in a few months, after you've run it a few more times, how it is holding up. Again, thanks for posting the information. As a Fantom owner, I am always happy to hear about new things that Fantom has created and how they perform.

There you go...thinking again. You really must stop that.
