I need a flywheel and clutch for the WS7II that I am getting ready to put in my PCR Pro. I was thinking of going with the werks adjustable clutch set up. When looking at them I see they are available with rulon, teflon, or carbon shoes. I would like to hear opinions from anyone running them, good or bad, and which shoes are you using? I don't which ones will be best for my buggy. Thanks.

I have one. It seems like it would be a good setup for a racer because you can adjust the engagement point for different tracks/gearing/conditions. But since I am a basher, mine is in my parts box collecting dust, because I hate taking my engine out just to try to screw that thing in or out a turn because I guessed wrong on the engagement point. Plus, the shoes wear out fast compared to my blue aluminum OFNA ones. So I guess it depends on what you want to use it for.

I'm running the Carbon shoes on my RB S7II. It works great as long as you don't overtighten the nut. When you tighten it down use the gold spring that comes with it and screw it down until only 2 threads are showing, this is a perfect engagement point for the S7. But if the clutch is set up properly you won't have to worry about bearings for a while. The clutch bell doesn't overheat. I have three gallons on my carbon shoes and no sign of wear. Its an all around good clutch.

NC, I have a spare one with brand new carbon shoes. PM me if you want to try it out. I could loan it to you and if you like it you can pay for it, otherwise you can just return it back to me.

I can't testify how well it works in a buggy, I've run mine in a Savage for the last 2 gallons and really like it compared to the stock 3 shoe. It is very easy to install and carbon shoes have worn out very little over 2 gallons. I know the off road racers use the rulon shoes but they wear out more quickly. The teflon shoes are supposed to be for on-road only. You can also try 2 carbon shoes with 2 rulon shoes if the carbon shoes are not up to par in terms of bite, without having the excessive wear of the rulon shoes.

i run one with the Rulon shoes. i have it in a Mugen witha RB mods ws7II. i have mine with the nut flush with the gold spring. any tighter and it slips too much. i like it alot. they make a nut with a place to adjust while on the car. you have to drill a small hole in the clutch bell, and it works well.

I just saw that adjustment nut on there site, (thanks for the link SD). That looks interesting. I just dont know about drilling a hole in the clutch bell. With the rpms these things turn it will definately cause the bell to be unbalanced, even if only slightly. Maybe drill one on both sides of the bell. Well thanks to SD, I have one with carbon shoes I will be giving a try here real soon.

werks clutches are pretty good. carbon shoes are the std. rulon shoes bite hard once up to temp and should really only be used on stump puller motors on tracks with lots of grip. teflon shoes allow more slip than carbons and are generally used on slippery tracks. you can also mix and match the shoes in pairs to fine tune the grip level.

anyone wanting to sell thier werks clutch cheap please PM me.
