ok this weekend i went to mexico for some family visiting and to get away. what better place to run a tmaxx 3.3, right? anyways I'm running my engine tweaking the carb, and its running great! then i drove about a 1/4 of a block and brought it back and PFF! shut off, thought it just had a hick up. i plug my ez start and its jammed. pull the glow plug and its melted! top to bottom! take the engine out pull the back plate and the rod falls in my lap. with a look of confusion and the feel of disaster, i sleek tingle overcomes my body. and the thought of: i got a reason to buy a bigger better engine! but which one??? i want the biggest baddest engine that can fit on a stock maxx chassis. i might even go big block kit. anyhelp is appreciated!

I've heard good things about the picco, i run the rb 523 in my revo and its a beast.

yeap .26 picco will fit without modifying the chassis, so bodies will still fit correctly and stuff like that. However, you need to replace everyhting in the stock driveline when you replace then engine, which will cost way more than the engine itself. Just something to keep in mind.

OS engines makes a .21tm, the power is probably somewhere close the the picco .26, but I don't know the real numbers. When I buy a new engine, it will definitely be OS.

i have a os.18tz in my 2.5 truck and it will keep up with a os.21 big block and yes it is a drop in and no i havnt had any problems with drive componets and it will run you about $165 but dang its a wheeling beAST!!!!!!!

Will a .28 fit in, I know I would need to mod, but can it be done, or has it been done? I'm thinking of making some adjustments to the tmaxx.

After buying both a big block conversion kit and a good engine you'll probably have spent more than to just go out and buy a Picco .26 or an OS .21 tm.

But yes, it will fit.

Hmm, I will have to look at the picco too I guess. I know it will be quite a bit of money to do the conversion and so forth, so I will have to check out the picco.

Would the revo conversion kit work for the tmaxx, i know, it even sounds foolish when I say it, but I can't seem to find anything but the forward conversion kit for it.

Sweet, thank you for that. You are right again, it's going to be expensive if I plan on doing it.

The OS .21tm in my T-maxx is a sweet setup. The power is great and turning is very simple, I run it a touch on the fay side....
Here are the specs on the OS.21tm...

More monster muscle – for racing or bashing!
The 21TM adds more power and displacement than the 18TM – and without modification!.
Retrofits into the same mounting pattern, and the Traxxas clutch assembly bolts right on.
The special manifolds adapt perfectly to existing pull-start or EZ-StartTM systems.
Reliable, lightweight and easy to operate – and both include a 3-needle carb for more precise tuning and an LC3 glow plug.
