ok i jsut installed my reverse module and i am proud of myself of finishing my first project ever! :idea: , but when i switch it to reverse and push the throttle button, it does not seem like the gears are connecting in place becuase it does not really move and is really slow at backing up! should it be doing this? what could i have done wrong? any help would be great!

my question is is it supposed to go slower in reverse then it is in foward????????
 
no, you should be able to go just as fast in reverse as you do moving forward...........check everything over again, could just be something simple that was over looked or may need a little tweaking
 
so i would have to tweaked it, do i have to change the needles around or sumthing! becuase it moves just really slow
 
Is there a strange gear grinding noise when you try to go in reverse? The first thing I would check and double check is that the shift servo is moving the shift slider all the way from one end to the other. If it's not, you're probably grinding the reversing gear. Make sure that the servo end of the linkage is in the right hole on the servo arm (proper distance from the output shaft of the servo).
 
well i am not really hear grinding noise, but the linkage you say at the bottom of my car could be messing up things, well i will check that and i hope that helps, becuase i really do not want to retake the car apart again!!

That's a good one. I lost count of how many times mine has been apart. I'm not raggin ya, but don't expect to not disassemble the savage sometime in the near future. I know what ya meant though. Taking the tranny apart to change/remove/fix the reverse module is a real pain.

One way to check if it's going into reverse all the way is to have the engine off and the tranny in forward and the shell off. Pull the truck backwards and notice how fast the spur spins. Then switch it into reverrse and push the truck at the same speed as before, then notice the spur speed. If it's the same, and the tranny sounds the same, then it's going into reverse properly (in a static, nearly no load test).

If you put the short sections of fuel tubing on either side of the shift lever, the tubing should be slightly compressed when it's in either gear. If it's in forward, the front piece should be compressed, reverse it should be the rear one. If there's any slop in the linkage, it might slip out of gear when it's running. But that's assuming that the linkage needs adjusting.

well i took the car apart, the gears seem to be running fine, i did reajust my linkage, so i will try again in the moring and piss off my nieghbors!:hehe:
 
damn...it is still doing the same thing, i have taken the car apart twice, i will be giving my lhs a call and see what i can do!
 
:doh: Sorry to hear you are having a time with the new mod, hope your LHS can help get it going for you, let us know what the problem was after it's fixed.
 
Ok, I'm gonna take a wild stab at this and assume that you did everything that was in the instructions. Like moving the bearings in the tranny when ya put the module in. You said that the link was adjusted properly and there was no whining or grinding noises coming from the truck when it was in reverse.

Have you taken the module apart and checked the gears in there? There is a small gear in the module that is only used when the truck is in reverse. I know it's a pain to check, but they'll ask you'll at the LHS if you've stripped the reversing gear. That is the last thing that I can think of relating to installing the reverse module.

One thing to check, though it's unlikely, is if you have the proper tension on the slipper nut. That's the nut and spring that holds the main spur gear on the tranny input shaft. I run mine pretty tight, but I think the recommended setting is to tighten the nut all the way, then back it off 1/4 turn. I run mine at about 1/8th turn out. Like I said, that shouldn't have any effect on forward vs. reverse reactions, but I'd check it anyway.
 
well i took my savage to the lhs today and they said they will fix it, so i should have it back sumtime this week, dont know what is wrong yet, but i should know soon. :mex:
 
well i took my car into my lhs to find out why the reverse is not working and i found out that the linkage was put on backwards :\ and they told me it works like a charm now. i will be picking my car up to tom. anyone planning on buying the reverse make sure u read the instructions CAREFULLY!!!!!

BTW, with a Picco 26 it will do wheelies in reverse.
 
I LOVE THE REVESRE MOD SO MUCH!! it is the best thing to have when u are in a jam, i love it and i love it. i would recommend this any anyone. :tank:
