So yesterday i replaced the reverse gear in my 2.5 tranny, and went to test it and it would run through first gear and shift then sputter in 2ed and cut off. It would also do this if it was sitting idleing for about a min and when i gave it gas to move, it would sputter and cut off again. I tried replacing the glow plug and that did not help. Any ideas of whats going on?

Is it revving out for a couple seconds then shifting or is shiftin quickly like it should? Sounds like it may b tunin, but I'm not an expert on it just my thoughts cuz if it rides in high rpms, then shifts to second it may b too rich. That would make it shut off if u punch it after its been sittin for a minute as well as the crank case would be loadin up with fuel. Like I said I'm not an expert but mine did the same thing when I first got it, because it had gotten a lot hotter meanin I needed to lean it out n that fixed it.

Yea I'm here in virginia n mines normally around there, but when it got hot it was rich, so I had to lean it some. Now that its cooler after all the rain I had to richen it up again. Dunno bout yours but my 2.5 was really finicky even after it was sealed airtight and needed to be retuned all the time.
Possible maybe somethins binding causin it to stop the tranny from spinnin when it hits second? Or maybe a loose piece in there moves in the way when it gets a lot of torque on it?

i'm still learning the tuning process ( 1 year into it) but it does sound like its running rich, especially the cutting out at idle. Fuel is building up an and flooding the engine. What are your head temps?

yeah I'm constantly tweaking this thing, but its good for me, expecally because its my first nitro one. I've always had electric before

this is also my first nitro coming from electric. I've learned alot from reading posts here (new and old) and buy asking many questions it was very frustrating at times with my rig stalling, sputtering, ecetera but it finally began to make sense regarding tuning. Now that i'm comfortable with tuning I will never go back to electric. Nitro is just really gets my adrenaline pumping ( I can't get enough of the smell and sound) I do recommend a temperature gauge for tuning this is an invaluable tool!

Id definitly get a temp gun if ya don't have one already but like I said it sounds rich did you ever get it running ok?

yeah i finally got mine tuned by tweaking the throttle adjustment on the remote and that knob on the carb, and i have an laser temp gun at my work, so ill have to bring it home on the weekends and use it for better tuneing
