The only time I've broken dogbones is when I've hit something/or found a less than pristine hub bearing......or bash with my jumbo kongs for too long, and I have my slipper backed out a 1/8 of a turn.
As for tougher centre driveshaft/dogbones all I've found were the HPI heavy duty centres they look chrome?, they also make heavy duty centre cups that are also polished
