So I've had my maxx for a while spent alot on it upgraded alot . But at just over 14 lbs i feel it is rather heavy . Not a racer more of a basher so still need some strength but want to lighten it up abit. I have alu chassis braces alu skid plates front rear and center thick alu shock towers full stainless rollcage front rpm's true track rpm rear end alu bulkheads . I still wanna keep a little bit of strength but i feel I'm way too kitted out for the jumps I'm doing . So wat would i be best to replace with stock or remove but still keep abit of strength to lighten her up abit to take abit of strain of the motor . Cheers for anyhelp .

one thing i did to mine was took out the reverse gears and installed forward only. it lightens it up a little bit more...theres a ton of gears in there just for reverse, you;ll see what i mean when u start diggin around in there. you could try using a lighter weight shock oil too....thats about all i got...peace.

Yer was going to do a FOC but after a couple of barges realised i use it too much . And running over to flip it over is annoying so having to walk over to turn it round would do my head in . JMO

Yer will replace the back with stock and take off center but will keep alu front because went though 3 on the front before i got the alu ones .

What model are u running? I have a newer maxx(4907), and still have stock bulks. I've never had to replace them and I bash the hell outta mine. Maybe kuzz my rollcage holds everything together, or I'm just lucky.

Don't know what is avalible for that good way to stay strong but get lignter is carbonfiber parts.:D

dont think i can afford carbon fibre unfortunatly lol , runnin the 2.5r chassis with 3.3 tranny and engine .

rpm shock towers are pretty durable and acouple ounces lighter then stock, what are you using for bumpers???? stock or metal???? If I think of anymore I will let u know..

I axually would like alittle bigger of a tank myself..... you could get the light weight chassis the one thats all holey...... Oh and stock axles if you have metal ones If you have the 3.3 tranny than you should be able to use the 3.3/revo shafts..... you might have to change either your pinion gears or just get the 3.3/revo diff.'s I have had good luck with the plastic, I actually had metal and went baack to my stock 3.3 shafts.. go back to plastic chassis braces.... I would keep the aluminum bulkheads though..... I would keep the rims and tires just from experience in durability and lasting time, but you could always get a lighter weight rim and tire set aswell...... but Thats just kinda what I have done on one so far and it seems to run good and is lasting me for a little while now... Let us know what you decide........ and how it works for you.

so stripped it right down , took off the alu chassis braces alu skid plates rear and center alu bulk braces but left the bulkheads and replaced with stock took off the custom fan i made and extra batterry pack , took off the battery housing and cable tied my hump pack to the shock tower , took out the custom body posts seems that I'm not running a shell , but kept my rollcage , oh and took off the custom sway bar , so now she weighs in at ...................................... ding ding ding ding ding , in the blue corner weighing in at 12lbs 3 ounces , the t maxx lol ,

I would lose the 3.3 engine and get the Ofna picco.26 MAXX EZ Start engine. The power that engine makes will more than make up for the extra weight. Plus the clutch, bell gear, header and pipe , and the EZ start will bolt right on it. You will have to buy the engine mount for it but you will get twice the engine for less than 200 bucks.

I'm now about to leave to go meet my mate whos got a mta4 with my old force 28 engine in . But atm quite happy with my trx engine but will probably be due for an upgrade soon considerin its had about 7 gallon's through it . But still has a fair bit of compression in her .

Ditch the easy start and go to drill start. looks cleaner too. As taylor said, wheels and tires. My sons classic wheels and tires are .4 oz. ea. lighter than my 4907 wheels and tires. It adds up I guess

Ditch the roll cage for a thick body like a proline, with rpm shock towers, plastic skids, chassis braces, roto or pull start, forward only. 14 lbs is more than my xxl.

Yer i have the pull start on it and have the classic wheels with the chevron tyres prefer them . And yer that sounds like a good idea coz that roll cage is heavy . I only got it because everytime i rolled or something i kept knockin my block and it was messing up my mesh so was stripping spur's i have to take the engine off today coz need to
Jb weld the carb to engine again So will c what i can do .

you can get a cage for just around your engine.... And atleast I know I am not the only one that will go as far as weighing my tires and rims to know which set is heavier.....
