Has anyone seen a weed wacker powered T? I've seen a weed wacker engine in an old TTR stadium truck in an old magazine but it didn't give a lot of details.

Now, if any of you can answer these questions, I'd appreciate it.

What type of clutch would you have to use?

Are there any diffs that could handle 31 cc's? Or would you have to use a SM 7.5 setup?

What would I have to do to crankshaft?

I thought of doing the MP tranny mod and doing a complete upgrade of the diffs but didn't know if they would hold up.

EDIT: I just found out that a chainsaw engine has a clutch.(duh!) So maybe you could rig up a chain drive somehow!

Thanx:devil:

Actually I built a weed wacker powerd truck years ago, I never finished it. All weed wackers have a Centrifugal clutch assembly, the best way to design a drive train is to follow a go-kart set up. with a dirt bike style suspension. (Chain driven)If you really want to build one, I could walk you through it. If anyone has questions please ask away.:smart:

Thanx! I'll try to find some pics of those karts on the web. Although it would be pretty heavy, I think it would be the perfect T-Maxx. No tuning, no special fuel that costs $20 just for a gallon and some MAD power.

I'm not sure if I want to tackle a project like this right now but I really looking into it.

When I say Go cart style frame what I meant, was the just the way they are chain driven. If you have access to a light duty mig welder, you can weld up some serious frames that are very light weight and simple. Dirt bike suspension: That would be a solid rear axle setup with a swing arm suspension, now even though indipendent rear suspension in better, solid axle will work fine.

Oh, I get what you're saying.

All we have is an arc welder and I really didn't want to make a whole new frame for it, just a new chassis, and of course, drivetrain upgrades. I was thinking of maybe trying to rig up a mad force chain and gears.

Hey M@xx, would I have to hve the shaft on the engine custom machined to accept a flywheel, etc. or would I just need to put a regular gear on it. (obviously something smaller than the spur)
What did you do, or did you get that far on yours?

Thanx again!
