Apparently the severe weather / tornado sirens have went off once or twice over the weekend and neither the wife nor I heard them. So the wife has decided getting a weather radio might be a good idea.

So I'm looking for suggestions on a decent weather radio, something that may play some kind of alarm during severe weather, etc. I've never owned one nor even looked at one so not sure what I should be looking for in a good radio.

Suggestions?

Isn't there an APP for that?

Any of the weather alert radios with the NOAA symbol should work for you. These are in standby until the National Weather Service send its signal to activate the sirens or they broadcast a warning. There are 6 channels, so you will need to find the one for your area. You can find them at Radio Shack and maybe WalMart.
