I just got back from a race in Compton...

I watched about an hour of practice, and then the rain
started. Everyone packed up, race cxled...
Obviously its the electronics that is the concern...
I spoke to a Turkish guy at the track and he told me
it's very common to race in the rain in Europe...
I was actually looking forward to watching a race in the rain...
What exactly needs to be done to the electronics to ride
in the rain ? is it as simple as rubber balloons covering everything
electronic ?

Most people use one of two methods. One is to put your electronics inside of balloons, the other is to dip your servo's (I wouldn't dip a Rx) in a liquid rubber product called Plasti-Dip. I don't particularly care for this method myself. I have always done balloons and have not yet had a problem. If you need more in depth info on how to go ahead with either of these methods do a search within this forum. There should be some good advice concerning procedures. Good luck!

Yeah, balloon's ( or condoms ) seems to be the easiest...
I did a search for "balloon" , "weather" , "water" , "waterproofing"
no luck... If anyone knows of any articles or threads that would be great...

I treated the servos currently on my RC10GT with the spry waterproofing compound sold by the can at wal-mart. I don't know if anyone is familiar with it, but it's mainly used for outdoors water proofing. Spray it on tents, boots, clothing etc. and they absorb the chemichal and stay pretty resistant. I also do not know the name of the stuff, but it worked pretty damn good around when Rita hit, and everything is still running fine.

Look in the outdoors or hunting section at your local wal-mart, it is a generic brand compound.

I have always heard to either use balloons, or use plasti-dip. I've heard plastidip works great, but remember, you have to get it off after your done.

u dont have to, but otherwise in the summer, the plastidip will keep in all the heat, causing overheating.

Now don't forget about the radio, that is one on the main problems, since most of the driver stand are not cover. I have race in the rain, not for long but just few laps, and is really cool the way they look with big ruster tail down the track.

Hitech makes water-PROOF servos.as far as the reciever just use 2 ballons.I use this on my mgt and i go threw water and snow with no problems.
