RC Driving Style
I just bought the Savage 21 and I was wondering how deep under water I could go. The reason is I have a fish pond and I want to put food in the back of the truck for a sick fish I have. I would drive the truck to the fish and drop off the package. It is probably only a depth of 3 feet, but I just didn't want to damage any of the intricate electronics. Any help or tips would be appreciated.

Buy a boat, install some diffs and a drivetrain and waterproof the outlets for the axles. The savage would more than likely die in 3 feet of water. Call me cooky.

like those treasure cheasts you put at the bottom of fish bowls

Thats funny, but it's only going to bubble for a second or two. Spewing oil and nitro into the pond. If he had a sick fish before, wait till his fish gets a taste of some 20%. 8-0

 Can see it now singing " Take me to the river put me in the Water "

Sorry SavageBeast21! Dont mean to mock you. Its all in fun. BTW welcome to RCNT. I'm sure you will find a lot of great info here for your Savage and anything else you may be getting into. Like Solar Power for you house for instance. :)

OH poop DUDE I JUST BUSTED OUT AT WORK WHEN I READ THAT OH DAMN THAT WAS GOOD... :ahh: OFF to lunch ...

Oh poop take me to the rive to funny thats gonna be stuck in my freeking head all day...X

on a serious note, if he puts some sort of snorkle on it, wouldn't it go? I mean it just has to breath air in and expel air out. As long as you waterproof the hell of out of the electronics, it should go right? Have to water proof the gas tank too.... would be cool to see.

if you do it be sure to get some video :D

You could do it in the same fashion that HUMVEES do. Make snorkels for exhaust and carb and go. The waterproofing of the electronics would be important, but you would also have to find a way to get the transmitted signal down to the receiver (some kind of extension wire for the antenna).

That's if we are to take this thread seriously.

i was under the impression radio waves traveled through water (but what do I know :D)

Liquid laytex the whole car except for the pipe and intake. shoot a pipe from the pipe and intake 3 feet to clear the water and make sure its air tight. The savage antenna is long, so get some tubing that will clear the waters surface also. Bam! The savage submarine.

I read an article in RC magazine to put a balloon around the electronics and I was wondering if I could silicone any other openings. I just want to be the first to drive in and drive out of the water. I expected better help from this forum. I know you guys wont let me down

SB if you are serious you are going to have to do some serious stuff to get this to work..

You will have ot make sure that the engine is completley sealed that mean rubber sealed bearings in the front and I don't know how you will seal the back where the starter is. That is just the begining. Then you will need a inlet and exhaust tubes that will be taller than how deep you will be driving they will have to be water tight and supported very well so that the water dosen't push them over. Once that is accomplished then you will to put all your electronics in a airtight water proof box. Balloning wont cut it. it has to be AIR TIGHT ... With a the antena coming out one being siliconed around where it comes out. Shall I continue...X

you would have to make a snorkel and also come pipe to bring the exhaust out of the water, casue no exhaust no go
