I guess this is my introduction and a question. I've recently returned to RC after about a 8 year hiatus. The last car I bought was a RS4 Sport right when they hit the shelves, which pretty well burned me out on electric and on road.

I just picked a like new Revo 2.5R for 200 bucks, the only problem being stripped gears in the rear diff. After calling my closest hobby shop over an hour away and making sure they had the gears in stock, I hit the interstate and of course when i get there they didn't have them.

I went ahead and got the Traxxas spool since this was the only way I was going to get to run it at any decent speed. The only thing that gripes me is the off-road only warning. Let me guess this thing is going cause ten times more problems if I'm ripping us and down the road? Would it be worth it to go ahead and get the Heavy duty gears before i tear something else up?

either be really carefully on the turns, or get the gears i would get the gears what gears stripped out the diffs or the ring and pinion

It was the diff gears. So should i be careful on-road as to not destroy more parts or should it be alright?

i would put diff gears in as soon as possible cause u will break stuff quick with a spool plus a revo is way funner to drive with a diff, if you want to do it the easy way u can get a whole rear diff on ebay for about 20. maybe cheaper.

i ran my maxx 3.3 for 6 mothes with a locked rear diff it didnt hurt anything it just makes it a bit well lets say a "fun" ride..

You should be fine i never had any issue but donuts are common and the corners can get a bit wild

The replacement diff gears for the Revo have an added piece that is not there in the stock gears. It's a stiffener to help keep the output gears from stripping. I blew out both the front and rear output gears....heh. Not a single problem since I replaced them.

Cool. looks like i should be good for a bit, till my next road trip to the hobby shop. Thanks guys.

Good for a bit was a good thought. Blew the front out today and stripped a hex and a wheel on the rear. The Revo 3.3 has the updated gears, correct? If so i'm going to get a couple diffs off ebay I guess.

i dont know, but still getting some diffs from ebay is a good idea also if u stripped a hex it wouldn't be a bad time to get some 17mm hexes on there.

The new 17mm hexes are on the way along with the new 3.3 wheels. Eyeballing a couples diffs. I hate ebay. then there the 5308 tranny thats too cheap to pass up...erevo body...
