My Revo 2.5 was running really good. But I noticed when I drove it yesterday it would click into reverse out of nowhere and neutral. Today I was doing a highspeed run and out of nowhere it clicked into neutral I think and it's stuck. The engine runs good, it idles good, and the gears spin when i hit the throttle but it does not move, am I stuck in neutral? A bad clutch maybe? Help Please

Make sure the servo that slides back and forth from forward to reverse is not bad. and to be sure its ingaged into drive see that the shaft going into the front of the tranny from that servo is pushed into the tranny not pulled ou or half out..if this isnt the case then yes you may have broken a gear in the tranny

It sounds like a broken gear. It may be that the reverse gear has gone out.

Ok thanks guys I will take a look, I bought this used so I am not too familiar but on the controller, to make it go forward the red switch should be down right? To make it go into reverse you flip the switch up? Thanks again

We'll it ended up being that little 7mm nut behind the plastic gear that connects to the metal spur gear. The nut was loose. Tightened that nut up and forward and reverse work perfect:D

You mean the nut with the spring at the slipper clutch? It needs to be tightened all the way and backed off 1/4-1/2 turn. That is your slipper clutch adjustment nut. Or retaining nut whatever you wish to call it.

I may be wrong because I'm thinking this was in the t-maxx thred. Don't know if trannies are same or not.

If the nut is too tight it will put extra stress on the drive train, you will probably see more wheelies but you will also see more stripped gears and twisted drive shafts.

if its too tight it will also crack and UN-evenly wear the pads if they move at all. but they will most likely crack and go walk-about.

Also, I didn't see a spring but the nut is right next to the plastic gear with two metal disks next to it. I backed the nut out a good 1/2 turn

opti-drive

i saw some vids on youtube of peoples opti-drive going crazy and messing with the reverse servo.. try unplugging your opti-drive

hope this helped:D

It was actually my slipper clutch. The nut on my slipper was way to loose and would cause my car to go into reverse and neutral out of nowhere. Also it would not go into reverse like it's supposed to. With the proper tightness of the slipper clutch forward and reverse work perfect! Thanks

That is a lock nut and it needs to be tight enough not to slip by hand then a bit more. If tightened to tight and you hit something solid it could break a gear. I dont have my spec book here but there is a tightening spec on it. Above will work till you find the correct procedure.

Stick a 2mm allen wrench into one of the slots behind the metal plate which are cooling fins. This will hold it in place then try to spin or turn the spur gear by hand. You want the nut just tight enough to not be able to turn the spur gear by hand too easily but if you over tighten it you chance it not slipping and causing problems by breaking clutch pads or gears and if its too loose you will slip it too much and not get off the line very well and it will burn up your clutch plates. I have mine tight enough to where i can barely turn my spur gear with my fingers at all but I'm breaking in a new engine right now and after breakin i may give it 1/4 turn more. 2.5R in a revo

Tightness will also depend on your driving style. Like wheelies tighter like keeping all fours on ground looser. Or go a bit in between for best of both and thats where i like mine.

Tune Question

Thank you sir, this is exactly what I did as per the youtube vid:hehe: I have a tune question though, my truck runs really solid until it gets below 1/4 tank. At that point it seems to bog every so often off the line for a few seconds before it gets going good? Is this too rich or lean and on what needle? Thanks
