They don't cost that much. General range is $30 and up. I think Duratrax makes one for about $35. OFNA makes one for about the same price. The pistol grip ones are pricier.

Don't give a second hand tool as a gift. That's lke giving used underwear as a gift ... it's just wrong!:contract:

Dude the Radio shack temp gun is sale priced at $29.99, regular price is 49.99!! I have one myself and it is a nice unit, just as good as the ones you'll find at the LHS (except the onboard Venom)..............don't scrimp and give a used item for a Christmas gift!

I've got the Radio Shack and it kicks ass.
For a present, I'd go with this one http://www.tempgun.com/main.html . It comes with a nice metal case, the battery, and a carrying strap. The site price is $35, but many hobby stores carry them and sell them for a couple bucks less than that.

I also have the Radio shack temp gauge, and I love it. I got mine on sale for $19.99 last year. It is about 1-2 degrees off from my MIP on-board temp gauge, so I trust it. Just wanted to chime in.

I can get all those on e-bay for less than $30. I want a really nice one like raytek or the extech one I currently have. Wich is why I want a used one. You see, my dad liked the the one I have so I want to get him a similar one but I don't want to drop too much money.( he wants the gun style) Besides how hard is it to read the highest temp when you got those little guys upside down? I am just wondering.

I think you're too damn picky. More cash doesn't always mean nicer, especially when you're shopping used for a present... The way you're talking $30 is nothing to you, sooo Raytek's normally go for $79.99 BRAND SPANKIN NEW!!!! Merry Christmas, Ebenezer Scrooge. HAHAHAHA jk.

I never said it was a present for x-mas or anything. He saw mine and liked it. I told him if I came across another at a decent price I would get it for him.
