RC Driving Style
Hi, I'm new to the nitro world and would like your input. About 3 months ago I bought a rs4 rtr evo. To me this being my first nitro car i was like WOW this thing flies, until i start meeting up with some guys in the parking lot on every wed. I can hang with maybe one or two,,but the rest of them blow me away. We do mostly drag runs, which i would like to set uo some kind of track and maybe bet them with my driving skills :jk: . Anyhow the guys are driving mugen mtx-3 i think one guy has a yokomo and others have 4-tecs. I am looking strongly at the NTC3 , would like to know if i can hang with this car(with right engine, set up, gearing etc. which i know little about but learning.) Please ant input on this car would be helpful,,and which engine would put me at the head if the pack. Sorry for such a long thread.

Definitely! I was in the same boat as you and found that a NTC3 was the better upgrade. I learned everything from this forum and its members. Read on my friend as there is a plethora of information here. The 4 tec is know for breaking 60mph ...not too sure on that personally. Both the MTX-3 and the Yokomo ( GT-4 ) are bitchen rides by the way.

Jon

hey thanks jon!! Do you think I should get a mugen instead and which engine will put me in the 60+ mph range in the NTC3?

Honestly a high dollar engine only won't gaurantee you reaching those speeds. Gearing, suspension, traction, body type are factors to play with. Look on the onraod forum .Also to get better responses change your title as its too vague.

Good luck.

The NTC3 kicks #@&, I just scooped up a used RTR a couple of months ago and she is impressive. I took out the stock .12 engine and put in a Sirio .12. I actually just finished breaking her in yesterday. I am running way rich and she has enough power for me (right now at least). The only thing I need to work on now is to sweeten up my driving skills to handle her power. It's my first touring car, but I think it's the best way to go. Coming from a MT background, the touring cars take a little more finesse in driving.

As I stated, I just broke her in yesterday, and haven't run against anyone else. But she is FAST! I should have the opportunity to run against a CEN CT4-S within the next couple of days. I will let you know how it goes. Anyway, my vote is for the NTC3.

Later....

Update: I just saw that there is a guy on this forum who has a used NTC3 kit for auction on ebay. He stated that his reserve price was $250. Check it out and shoot him a couple of questions if you are interested.

710,
Where have you seen that price on the Mugen X12? I have only seen them $350 and up.

My brother and I both picked up a Mugen-Seki X12 for $300. Anything higher than $320 and you're getting shafted.

I have the Nova MT.12 in my MTX-3 and I hold my own against the higher priced engines. But I race at tight turn tracks where the proper set-up and driving is what makes u faster not the Horsepower. The MT .12 price tag is about $164.00
