Gday All!
Just doing a little research as to what car to start with as I have finally decided to get back into the RC's although Nitro this time, Use to race my Super Shots, BigWig & Turbo Optima about 25 years ago... So I would like to think I still have some basic understanding of assembly but all the same I am not kidding my self and want to start again from the beginning!

• I know I want to get into the 1:10 touring cars and before long start in some novice racing.
• I’m looking for something that parts will be easy to come by with the flexibility to do some good hop-ups.
• Nitro interests me more then electric, must be something about the smell of fuel
• Personally I think it would be best to start with a RTR as seeing a car complete then pulling it down I tend to get familiar with it much faster.
• As what ever RTR I end up getting I am also trying to think ahead, I would more then likely upgrade within 6 months so having the RTR compatible with the next car would be an idea situation. (me thinks)

I guess my plan of attack is...

Get an RTR to start out with Kyosho FW-06 No.31374 $450.00 ((OPEN TO BETTER SUGGESTIONS))
Tinker with gearing setup’s shock oils etc (Don’t think I will want to spend to much money with hop-ups on this maybe just some different gearing etc)
Start Novice racing get a feel for everything
Replace servo’s and radio Spektrum DX3R DSM2 $399.10
Tinker with radio setup combined with car setup, and gain experience / confidence etc
Upgrade car to something like a Kyosho V-One RRR Evo.2 No.31263 $622.50

I hope this doesn’t sound stupid but by all means say so if I’m approaching this in the wrong direction. At this stage I am looking at the 2008 Kyosho FW-06 No.31374 for $450.00, but would like opinions if I should go with a different brand / model.

Looking forward to everyone’s feedback

Maybe i can help you

I think you are looking to race in a similar catogry like me.

the Kyosho FW-06 No.31374 is a 1/10 scale

I race similar car but a 1/8 scale biger in size

Kyosho FW-06 No.31816 is an example of my catogry.

It is called the inferno.
In nyc we race the inferno/ofnagtp(I have) /dm1 catogry

I upgrade my radio and servos and run everything else stock.

You have the right concept, i recomend going to an offical race near you
and see which catogry appeals to you the most.:first_place:

Thanks for you input mate... its very much appreciated!

I ended up getting a Kyosho FW-05T+ second hand but it great nik! loads of hopups good compression lots of spares only a few scratches on the underside etc... all that was wrong was that the flywheel was free spinning not sure if the seller even bothered to check it out... guess I was in the right place at the right time!
I am now in the middle of playing around with setup and tuning. I have already checked out the local track and the car allows me in 3 different classes which is PERFECT! I was also lucky enough to find a second car... just a rolling chassis which was only $25AU which I will basically use for parts so between to 2 cars plus a new body and 1 new set of tyres I have spent a total of $225AUD. I think I am having more fun at the moment just getting the setups right I have been able to test side by side with a friends brothers car who races often, its just as quick, and now it seems to be handling more accurately. my first race meet is on August 2nd and I hope by then I will have this thing handling the way I want it too.

Cheers.
