Wanting to kno what shocks to use on my t maxx if i go with a 4 shock set up. Id like to shave the weight off but not sure if doin this will break shock towers or bend shafts or what. Looking at ofna 9.5 front shocks but wanted to kno if 4 big bores would get the job done. Id like to make the 2.5 to where it surprises people.

i dont think 4 big bores will support it and hangs really low but thats what i have notice when putting on shocks and taking them off

When I built my sons 2.5 maxx I put 4 UE Supershocks on it, its a really sweet set up and works well. As far as using only four big bores, that is not gonna work well at all.

Some people use buggy shocks....I think from an ofna lx1?...Don't quote me on that. You'll need some aluminum towers too.

Didnt think the big bores would work either. The UE are sweet but thats an expensive set up compared to slapping on some 1/8th scale buggie shocks. But if i were to need aluminum shock towers it may be worth it to spend the 100 bucks to get the UE shocks and knuckles.

That's the easy route to go, you can also use Mugen MBX6 Rear shocks but you still need FLM or UE shock towers.

Hey guys, why would he need special shock towers with the shocks your recommending ?

If i went with the UE shocks you have to have the aluminum knuckles to install them properly. The 1/8th scale buggy shocks may work with the regular towers but that would be a lot of stress to put on one side of a shock tower. I would rather do this than buy 8 big bores tho.

Thank you guys

Pretty simple...because with a shock on either side of the tower the load is spread out. With only one shock the shock tower will get over stressed from one side and will be more prone to breakage. The aluminum towers are stronger and can handle the stress easier. The shock on on side of the tower helps brace the other.... make sense? Kinda? :D

Got it thanks I was thinking the shock mounts some how was different and that's why he needed different towers now it makes sense to me

Check out UE and look at there shock and knuckle set up its pretty sweet. Freakenjoey I've said something like ur restraining order thing for years except i replace the restraining order with they are afraid ill take over. Lol

Because the buggy rear shocks are longer then the stock maxx shocks, and if you try to use them with a stock or RPM tower the shocks will bottom out before the skids do which transfers all that load right into the shock tower.

That and you would have no adjustment whatsoever.

Ofna/SuperShock top, stock ultra bottom.
