So I bought the side winder 3800kv sc kit, to put in my xxx scb. My slash has a mm pro esc, and a 10.5 turn motor. So I installed the castle 3800 motor in my slash, and ran it against my brothers slash with vxl power. Geared them both the same (23/90) and did some on road speed runs.
First we tried 3s, well we couldn't keep them on the road long enough to compare them!! So we went 2s. Much better, still fast. The castle powered slash had a little more top end, and cooler motor temps (108F), so you could gear higher if you wanted. The vxl was warmer at 140 ish F so it was about max.
Just thought some may find this info useful !

Yeap, did lots of reading before upgrading. Boiled down to:

VXL-water proof
Castle- little better performance

I didn't have waterproof servos and rarely play in wet conditions so Sidewinder sct proved to be best option for me.

still looking for a cheap vxl system for the winter months , as dont really no much about waterproofing lol

Think the best brushless kit thats water proof would be the Trax VXL !
It is powerfull too, a good all around system.

The last time I compared traxxas and CC set ups I ended up putting a vxl motor with a mamba esc. I was comparing a cc 4600 to the vxl which is a 3500, with the mamba esc the vxl would handle a taller gear than the cc4600. I haven't had a chance to try the 3800 motor yet.
