So the family plan my family is on, they don't have anymore. But since we had it when the did away with it, they said we can keep it. Okay cool. But the other day me and my buddy tried switching phones, and they said the phone he has, will not work with our plan because its a "High end phone (LG Versa) I have the Env2...Absolutely nothing different in the phone besides a touch screen ....wtf? So when we are eligible to get new phones they are going to MAKE US switch plans or the phone's "won't" work with the older plan....I guess that's Verizon's way of making us switch...oh the little bastards...:angry:
 
Unless there truly is a technically boundary I'd say they are strongarming you into changing to a new plan. I'd threaten to switch carriers and see how they react.
 
Thats the thing though, ouw contract is not up until March 30th of 2010...But were eligible for new phones in November of this year. So we can't really threaten them until March of 2010 so we will have to deal with our out dated phones for 5 months if we were to switch carriers...This a bull there really can't be and technical stuff about it....Why can't verizon be simple and have SIM cards like everyone else??
 
U.S. Cellular does not use SIM cards either, but I've heard you can take almost any phone and they will program it to work with theirs. Sucks you have to switch plans but business is business.
 
Verizon is coming out with the I-phone in 2010....I do not agree with the "you need to upgrade your plan crap". I wanna hold out for the I-phone
 
Sprint does the same NO SIM card crap. I hated it. They screwed me a few times too. I called to make sure I had the unlimited internet on the phone. I wanted to pay the extra charge for it just to make sure they didn't try to hose me. The PROMISED it was already ind=cluded in my plan. So my phone shuts off in the middle of my 45 day trip with a $1200 bill for data usage. Yeah no damn way I am paying that. Get that straightened out then same thing happens every month until I shut them off. Cingular tried to pull a quick one a couple times but I got that straightened out finally. Now my cell phone here in Japan is Ridiculously expensive. I pay $35 a month for 150 minutes. No that is not a pre-pay either. The next cheaper company gives you a lot of minutes but has NO coverage, you never run out of minutes becuase you can't use the stupid thing. Not only that...phone are TWICE as expensive here too. Explain that. Sorry to de-rail with my rant but had to let it go...
 
I have cingular, I have a SIM card, and I have had just a couple of minor issues. I also have a pretty plain, basic phone, no data plan or text stuff. I have a phone for a reason, TALK TO ME IF ITS IMPORTANT.
 
I would call back and talk to another person some times you get diff answers for the same question from diff people. That sucks tho.
 
All cell phone companies are the same. I have Cingular, now AT&T. My upgrade date was here and my wife and I wanted new phones so we were goint to upgrade. We went to the AT&T store and looked at some phones. The one we both liked was $200.00 with an upgrade fee of $40 each phone. Not ready to decide we went home. I started looking online and on AT&T's site I found the same phone with only a $18 upgrade fee for $0.00 (ZERO). Why is this? If I want to see a person face to face it cost me $240 x2(for 2 phones). If I get it online and sent to my house it only $18 x2. WTF!!! The other thing was that online it says the phones come with a usb cable to connect to the computer. When I got them it was not in the box. I called and they said it was not on their website. Thank god I printed the page before this. I faxed it to them and all they would say was it was a mistake and they would do nothing for me. After a half hour rant, I was sent 2 $25 minute cards for AT&T prepaid phone. What good does this do me? I don't have prepaid plans. I hate cell phone companies but need a cell phone(medical reasons). What can you do? They are out to screw you no matter what? All they want is your $$$$$$$! :angry::angry::angry:
